First I have to say that I do enjoy playing the game. With that said, I don't know if I will continue to play. It isn't game play issues or even technical issues with planes flying at mach 2 to 3 or the neck breaking maneuvers that allow them to do 90 degree turns. It is something simpler and an easy fix. It is the credit system. I know haters are gonna hate and say that is why you play low tier ships to earn credits. The average tier X, with service and ammo, costs around 450k-500k credits to repair. That is considerably less than can be earned. This means for one tier X battle I would have to do 1 to 3 lower tier games to come out ahead. Why play a game that isn't playable at higher tiers?

The fix is an easy one. Make all damage worth a set amount and give bonuses for critical damage and citadel hits. Likewise make the service price the same equation. So in a Yamato for example the health is 97kish so to pay for your repairs you have to do at least that much damage. Which could be less with bonus credits for good hits.

The other suggestion would be to make cap points worth credits somehow to encourage team play.

Thanks for the time. Flame away.

First, it's nowhere near 450k for a full service at tier X. More like 250k.

Second, Yeah, forgive a for-profit company to try and promote the actual sale of their product - IE, doubloons and premium time - and promote the population of lower tiers.

I think you will be suprised at how many people agree with you. I don't have a tier 10 yet but a buddy of mine has a few (no life but a few tier 10's) and he can't afford to play them. He plays a lot down near where I'm at tier 6 ish to get moola.

So let's say we change things and make tier 10s  able to support themselves. What happens when everyone has tier 10s and new people want to start playing? There would be no one playing lower tiers and so the game would stagnate and die. The current model keeps all tiers populated instead of just end game areas of the game.

The current model just funnels the players with the most experience and most upgraded captains into the low and medium tiers with the explicit goal of creating a road block for up and coming players in order to drive them off or convince them to spend money.

Yes. That's exactly how it works. As proven in the five years since WoT went live with the same business model - god knows that hasn't been successful at all.

Oh, wait ...

Pretty much.

However that's WG business model.

It would be interesting to increase the credit rewards at high tier a bit.

Well that's what WG wants... you to buy premium ships.

Go do yourself a favor and get a Marblehead to fund your higher-tier ships.

That's the effect of their model as its designed and implemented in WoWs. *shrug* It seems to be working to make them money so far, though with WoWs as new as it is, and not yet had its first major marketing push in NA, time will tell if they stick with it or switch to something else. They should hire back Ramin Shokrizade to handle their monetization, though. Dude definitely knows what he's doing.

Unless there is some type of end-game designed to allow play at high tiers without going bankrupt doing repairs, my plan right now is to grind to tier 8, then wait and see how things play out for end-game and high tiers.

Mind you, I don't cheap out and try to play this entire game for free. I buy premium time, doubloons, and premium ships. But there's not much point in playing the highest tiers just to watch your reserves of in-game currency drain down.

And let's be realistic. A free-to-play game is an enigma. It can't be done. Someone has to pay in order to make the payroll, pay the rent, and do everything that's required to keep a business afloat.

if the cost to run a high tier ship is even remotely that unsustainable then i agree with OP, it needs to be looked at. personally i play with premium always so i guess when i get to tier X ill find out for myself............. the airplane issues teh OP outlined are far more of an issue to me then anything else in the game

This is a free to play game and no body is forcing you to spend money. And if you don't want to spend money then you play your mid-tier ships to support your higher tier ships.

By the by, insulting Lert tends to end badly for the one doing the insulting. At least that is what I have seen in the past. Good luck to you. =P

FYI: It is still pretty easy to lose money at T10 with a premium account.

This isn't to keep people out of T10, but rather to keep people in the mid tiers. If everyone only played T10, you'd have nothing but T10's to play against....in your tier 4 or 6 or whatever. That wouldn't be fun at all. Thus, the current model.

What T10 are you playing that only costs 250k? My repair fees are usually above 300k once ammo is added, unless full service means something different to you?

I'll forgive a company for pushing their product when the act of pushing the product doesn't ruin the core game play. See all the people complaining about draws, people being passive, people losing games on purpose by running away when their team needs them to stand and fight? That all happens because WG needs to push their product, and if you aren't enjoying the game because of it, well, sucks to be you. Even if you quit, there's enough people willing to pay for it to let WG not give a crapabout you.

Here's a revolutionary idea.....make mid tiers FUN to play instead of making high tiers inaccessible.

Last I checked, they were. Or do you propose high tiers be unfun so people abandon them and play mid tiers? Yeah, that'll work great.

The comment you replied to wasitself a reply saying tat high tier repair fees are made to be excessively high as a way to force people to play low tiers.

So ya, basically, under the current system, high tiers are unfun so people play mid tiers.

T10 repairs are quite high in WoT, yet it is still quite fun. So high cost =/= not fun. Please try again.

People play mid tiers, not because high tiers are not fun, but to be able to continue having fun at high tiers. Not sure what's so hard about this

you should read more of his post he's a pro defender of all WG actions guess its his ST status >.> Sorry but i cant not stand up all of WG's actions but im not against them all as well..

The top tiers should be something everyone strives for but not unreachable and pushed so far out as to make people want to turn away.. i dont want to have to play one match then say goodbye for 3-6 matches just to come back for one more round...

Also not everyone loves the WOT method...

Because losing 100k credits on a win in no way takes away from the fun of playing at high tiers.

From my experience in WoT, a premium account is no where near enough to sustain high tier play. I don't mind paying money, I paid to subscribe in wow for example, but when I'm paying money monthly and buying gold for training, isn't that enough to be able to just play  a tier 10 without losing THAT much credits?

If high costs of t10 play keep the players who only do a couple hits of damage out of t10. That is a good thing for game play.
