Are you drawn to the ocean? Why do you like the sea?

I love being near the ocean. At one point in my life I was in a period of stress but when I visited the beach and see the ocean expanse all the stress just went away.

I would absolutely love this game if it had weather and sea states. There's nothing quite like seeing or experiencing thunderstorm at sea at night.

Really puts us into the proper perspective and with it, the scale of our problems.

It has tasty stuff in it. Mainly sushi...

I love sushi too. Too much even. Oh raw salmon. Can't get enough.

Served in the US Navy back in the day. Worked nights and saw the sunrise in the Med many mornings. The sea is in my blood, and when I leave this world, I will claim my final right as a sailor - to be buried at sea.

Spent my first couple of years after college on my grandfathers fishing boat in Alaska. Those years on the water are some of my finest memories.

Fair winds and following sea's brother! :honoring:

This is why I keep playing the game, really don't like most of the mechanics but they put PVE in the game so I have something to play that lets me shoot ships.  If only I could get them to up the benefits of PVE I would happily pay for more premium time when mine runs out.

Once upon a time I studied to be a Marine Biologist,  I'm absolutely fascinated by all that it holds.... But after a certain point I learned too much and became absolutely terrified of it.... I refuse to be in water where I can't see the bottom.

Yeah, there's something very alluring about the sea that draws me towards it, even when it comes to games. Not sure what it is or why, maybe it's just the endless possibilities, I dunno.

Even in MMOs, I find myself focusing on sea exploration and/or combat. A bunch of my warships buddies and I have been playing Archeage, a Korean developed MMO, which has some shockingly awesome sea pvp in it. Here's one of the (many many) videos of us fighting on the sea:

I refuse to live anywhere that isn't near the ocean.  Currently I live just a short drive from Hwy 1 in Northern California.

Spent time at sea while in the Coast Guard, then spent a lot of time flying over it once I graduated "A" school.

The beach, and the sea, is therapeutic for me.  I love it and need it.

Yeah, I live near the beach in Washington State. There's an entire beach community of folks that just love living in that area. We love it almost as much during the cold grey winters as we do during the summer, even though warm summer days seem to bring all those "other" non-beach people to our beach.

Hell, as I kid, my favorite board game was Broadsides and Boarding Parties. Hehe

I love ships. I love the sea. Navy life baby. I am about to leave soon. I wish i could complete the marble head contest. But I don't have the time. Maybe the community managers can help me. But back on topic. I just love the sea. I hope I get night watches so I can see the star's and the sun rise.

To tell you the truth I hate the ocean. Closest I want to come to water is either waterskiing or in my pool with a 30 pack of beer.

Holy crap, someone drinks more than me?

Impossibru!!

Served in the U.S. Navy from 1983 to 1989. Got to see many places I'll probably never see again, and some places I wouldn't give a rat's rear end about ever seeing again.

Besides, there's nothing more fantastic then being out to sea on a clear night, and being able to read a book by moonlight, or seeing more stars than you could ever see on the clearest night ashore. Or hearing the sounds of Calypso music floating across the waves while you're miles offshore. You just can't top that feeling.

The first time you see the stars out at sea on a clear, moonless night, nowhere near a coast, with no light pollution from planets (Jupiter, Venus, etc.), and the ship's darkened, it will change you.  I kid you not.

Once your sight adjusts, the entire sky becomes filled white with countless stars from horizon to horizon, with the accretion disk of the Milky Way cutting a swathe right across the middle of it.  The sheer scale, depth, and detail of what you see is almost frightening.  I've never seen a picture or video that does the experience justice.  You have to experience it personally, and once you do, you'll never forget it.

I used to drink like a fish but now that I'm getting older I thought it might be a good idea to save save at least half of my liver for the next 40 years. Bud however is another story. Nothing like waking up to some Dankenstein (or before bed, or during the day or any other time).
