I literally could not beleive it as I pounded shell after AP shell from my Iowa in Two Brothers as I could farking HEAR my shells bouncing off the Yamato,  no matter what angle I fired at her. Cruisers were doing more God damage then I was.

Thanks for making American BBs so worthless WG,  we know you hate the USA,  but damn....

I'm curious about your range at the times shooting? Interesting that you bounced at all angles though, I have citadeled a yammy in a Colorado before, though that was at long range, plunging through the deck. I personally haven't gotten close enough to a Yamato to see how effective flatter trajectory shots are against it as I've just reached tiers 8/7 in USN/IJN BBs and either get killed at long range or never get to the same part of the map where the beast is. Is it possible Yamato's thick thick armor has a decently wide "zone of immunity" at say mid-range? Too far away to brute force through but too close to hit the deck? Just spitballing here and soliciting the expirience of others.

Yeah, none of that is true.  I think you still haven't gotten the hang of when and where to shoot.

Gee, i wonder what the Yamato was built for, could it possibly be that the Japanese built the biggest, most heavily armed and armored battleship in the world, to, i don't know, OUTCLASS EVERYTHING ELSE??!!

In all seriousness though, iowa and monty can infact penetrate yamato, given that it's not too heavily angled, though Yamato can penetrate you from any angle.

The Mk8 shell can get through the vertical armor of Yamato but at ranges the Type 91 shell can get through Montana's armor (Iowa had less armor than Montana, Montana was armored against the Mk 8 AP shell and Iowa was armored against the Mk 3 shell).  Yamato is vulnerable to deck hits though, Montana and Iowa not as much.  It should be noted also that the Type 91 shell was about as good at getting through armor as the lighter Mk 8 shell due to the Type 91 shell being optimized for underwater travel.  The Japanese wanted shells that landed short to be able to travel underwater for a much greater distance to possibly get hits under the armor belt.

Yamato  was designed to defeat 2 Standard type battleships.  North Carolina, South Dakota and Iowa classes are far better (not to mention 20 years newer in build and design) than the Standards.

I'm still waiting for WG to incorporate Mk 23 shells for Iowa (and possibly Montana) since Midway has jets.

MK 23 would be interesting, would take out entire area with one shot. Would not even need to aim, just get it in the general area.

Hell I killed a Yamato with the Colorado once so it can be done.

AP shells into the hull armor at range is pretty worthless with any BB. At about 60-70% max range AP and start to pen some hulls that I have come across. Mid range (10-12km for me anyway regardless of cruiser or battleship) seems idea if you wanna hit the hull. Otherwise I got for a cit shot or lob onto the engines if I can.Never went BB vs Yamato, however I have managed to get a few cit hits, granted by luck but I did it with my Pensacola. Maybe 2-3 but oterhwise I run like hell that thing is evil. ;x

A Colorado can't citadel a Yamato via 8-9 inch deck armor.

I made it to just under 10km from a Yamato with my Colorado. I was firing AP going for a citadel hit but was getting very few pens and even less damage. I finally got wasted...lol.
