Weekend High FPS, Weekday Low FPS (FIXED PLEASE READ!!!)

So there isn't an issue with lag here, it's random FPS depending on when I'm playing. 2 weekends ago I played for a total of 13 hours for 3 days (between Friday night and Sunday morning), and ran 70-75 fps on high settings the whole weekend.

I came home from work on that Monday night, logged in, and then couldn't get anything above 40 fps. It was like that ALL week. Then this past weekend comes up and WALLA i'm back to 75 fps. I played 18 hours this weekend and steady 75 fps. Came home Monday night from work and sure enough back to 40 fps, and that's where it's been all week.

Keep in mind this whole time I have NOT cut my computer off ( I rarely do). I have not changed any in game settings.

My specs are:

I7 3930K (NO OC)

Samsung 840 pro SSD.

16 gigs DDR 3 1600

EVGA 760.

Windows 7.

Is it possible this is something Wargame is controlling server side? I can't see anything on my end as to why this would be happening. I've tried restarting on the weekend to see if that might cause my fps to drop to the weekly 45 fps. I've tried restarting last night to see if a clean boot will fix it and get me back up to 75 and that doesn't help.

EDIT: I've fixed the issue, and hope the fix helps anyone experiencing FPS below what they feel you should be getting, see this link http://forum.worldofwarships.com/index.php?/topic/46593-weekend-high-fps-weekday-low-fps-fixed-please-read/page__pid__1169007#entry1169007

It's "voila" and if WG was doing something to make your FPS drop during the week they'd have to release a patch to do it then release another one to make it go back up on the weekends.

FPS is NOT determined by anything on the server side, it is done by local rendering.  Remember this, ALL GAME FILES are on  your computer.  When you load the game, it loads from the files on your computer, and only other player data, and movement/other actions are what are transmitted across the network.  When you start the game, the WG server tells your client, what map to load, and what side you are on.  The game loads.  The server then tells your client, that X is your teammate, and x is your enemy.  The game will start in x seconds.  Once it starts, the map is already loaded, and the only data transferred is what you are doing, and what other people are doing.  The map no longer matters as it is done on your side.  Want an example?  You can change the skins on ships all you want, but it is only local to your computer.  Want all your ships to have camo all the time, it is as simple as moving files around.  Will it be active camo that works in game, NO, but what you see will be camo'd ships.  Hell, go into an editor, and change the hull color to pink on all USN ships.  They will be pink on your computer, but no where else.....

All temps are normal. My CPU barely hits 85F on air, GPU runs around 55-60. This is while running both at the 75 fps I get on the weekends and 45 during the week.

I can change my settings from high to ultra while getting the 75 fps and it stays rock solid at 75, even after the restart of the client. I can drop the settings to medium and the same thing.

I can change my settings to medium when getting the 45 FPS and it stays the same after client restart.

Ill have to post some video showing it.

This really has me confused.

I reset my PC to default settings, and running water cooling.  I am in a 64F (~18C) room, and the lowest temp I could get out of my CPU 3930k at idle was 26C (79F).  Sitting in port, low graphics, and only set at 1920x1080....I was seeing a low of 36C (98F).  If you are only seeing 85F when running very high graphics......something either isn't right, or you aren't looking at something right.

My system,

3930K

32GB Ram (DDR2-2500)

Samsung 840 Pro SSD 500GB

2x GTX 680 Classifieds

GTS 450

Everything is stock settings, so no OC at all, no SLI, only 1 video card.  In port, low graphics, gives me 60 FPS, and in battle, my CPU went up to about 42C (108F), and 68 FPS.  Medium Graphics settings...  I get the same 60 FPS in port and 37C (98F) on the CPU.  In battle, I see 58-62 FPS, and a max of still about 42C.  The GPU was at 52C for both low, and medium tests.  Now, to very high, which I normally run, but not OC's as normal.  60 in the port, and in battle, 47C on the CPU, 60C on the GPU, and the FPS is bouncing a lot more now, it is bouncing from the 30's to the 70s depending on what I am seeing.  I am running 4 different FPS counters, and most are similar.  My MSI counter shows my MAX fps, and in this battle, it is at 78.  All others are constantly bouncing.

We have very similar systems when I am not OC'd.  The 680 Classified is faster than the 760, but I have never seen a stable 75+ fps in THIS game.  I think they have a FPS cap in low and medium settings, tyring to shoot for a FPS target around 60.  I skipped testing high, and went straight to very high.  My CPU, even on water, doesn't run the port as cool as your's does on Air.....interesting.  My FPS bouncing from 30s to 70s has nothing to do with my connection to WG, it is all about how my GPU is handling the images.  I would strongly urge you to download the new demo version of 3dMark.  Run it and see what your test results are.

Ok so here is gameplay of last weekend when I was getting above 45 fps. I don't have shadow play set to show FPS on the recording but in port it would be idle at 75 fps.

Here is a recording I did last night. Same settings as the previous video.

As of this morning it hasn't switched back to the high FPS i had last weekend. I've restarted, made sure everything is up do date, antivirus disable, low, medium, high FPS never goes above 41.

I guess I can only hope that this is fixed.

So after extensive trial and error with various things that might/might not be causing this, and a little Google searching about this issue, I've discovered the problem. It has to do with the backend and streaming service Nvidia's Geforce Experience uses. These show up as services in the task manager.

Several other games (GTA 5 for one) had reported the same issue. The fix was to end task on the Nvidia Back end and Streaming Service. This however stops you from using Shadow Play, but it fixes the problems.

My solution:

1) Go into task manager and end process on ALL Nvidia Services Listed.

2) Test Game, steady HIGH FPS for me (75-77).

    a) doing this disables ShadowPlay

3) Restart Geforce Experiance, turn Shadow Play back on.

4) Back into game and Steady High FPS.

I don't know what causes the problem to start with but I do know that after a system reboot and Geforce Experiance loading at start up is what gives me the low FPS in game.

After doing the above my FPS go back up to 75-77. My load times on the maps are greatly increased as well. With the low FPS environment I normally can't click on the "READY" button until about 5 secs before the maps loads. With the above fix I can click the "READY" button at 25 secs and the map loads instantly.

I hope this helps anyone who is having low fps issues and if anyone can point this to the devs so that they can be aware of this and work with Nvidia on a fix, and or any other thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
