Hi, i thought i get round to this while i wait for food to get delivered, Chinese. Yay

I discovered World of Warships at Games con Cologne, where it blow me out of the water so to speak. I'm currently playing low tier ships, this is more to not focusing on a class of ship. As i'm exploring them a bit till i "click" with one and focus on that line.  I'm only been playing Japanese fleet, As i like the appearance more then the american ones. But there are a few American ones i do like such as the Essex, Farragut.

Class wise i'm currently tied between Destroyers. As i enjoy the class except for the lack of armor, but i'm sure time and practice will get round that and give me some skills so i'm more useful to my team. Battleships are the other and a full broad side of guns makes me smile, plus being able to take a few shells and keep moving helps a lot. My problem with them is what feels like a week to turn. hmmm i'm going to go play with Destroyers a bit.

Clans are something i'm keeping an eye on, mostly for when i feel like my skills are sharper. As i do have a passion for tournaments and competitions, even though i think my skills aren't sharp enough to enter. The reason i love clans and teams is the social side as well as always some one to play with as well as learn/bounce ideas about.

Random facts

  how i miss you

Welcome, happy sailing and good hunting! ^^

I'll note that there are a few styles of battleships and some do focus on speed and have decent turning (usually at the expense of something else).

If you like DD's the Japanese line is probably best to start with. They have torpedo range that exceeds there spotting range so you can sneak attack pretty well. Most American DD's have more armor and firepower but have very low torpedo range so you get spotted before you are close enough to launch your attack.

Welcome aboard. I'm going to start naming some things that you need to look out for in DD gameplay:

Know your ships surface and air detectibility.

Know your torpedo armament's statistics such as distance, speed and number of torpedoes per tube.

Know your ship's capabilities and role. The current meta for US DD is to eliminate enemy DDs and then ambush larger ships such as battleships and carriers. Prioritize enemy DDs especially IJN DDs because they pose a greater threat to your battleships and carriers. After the enemy DD threat has been eliminated, focus on ambushing or capturing points. Context is key: cap one if your team lost all caps and then ambush along the way to another cap. If there are no targets to ambush, go cap. If enemy DD is still present somehow, focus on them first unless capping is an absolute necessity.

Know your proper captain skills. (YouTube this)

When the new patch is released, find your playstyle again by testing your AA hull or extra artillery (DD hunt) hull.

Learn to make worthy sacrifices (a bit in the advanced side). Know when you need to sacrifice yourself to finish off a carrier or battleship that are escorted by cruisers. Your ship is worth lesser in point value than say battleships and carriers.

    Hope this kinda helped.

    -A decent Sims player

P.S. if you want to be better at DD gameplay, master the arts of US DD gameplay. I started in the US DD tech tree in CBT and it helped me get better on some aspects in the IJN line.
