Why don't I get base cap points in domination games?

So I noticed something quirky last night while running around in my Hatsuharu and I dunno if this is a "design feature" or just my lack of understanding: I'm not getting base capture points in domination mode.

I caught this because I got a boatload of them in an earlier standard game where I more-or-less solo capped the enemy cap point, and was awarded a pretty good chunk of XP after the game for my 97 cap points; despite having done very little damage, I was top XP on the team.  So later on, after a domination game on Hotspot, I wondered how many cap points I had acquired.

Zero.

This strikes me as... incorrect.

In domination mode, smart DD players that don't die can be pretty valuable.  As the game wears on and there are fewer ships, the speed and stealth of DDs can take cap points away from the other team.  I view this as one of my primary jobs in a domination game, but apparently I'm not getting any reward for it (other than the potential win).  Is this correct?  Is WG honestly trying to push me into combat in the game format in which I am most valuable in a non-combat role?

Looking for some feedback from CBT or Alpha guys as to whether or not this was always the case.

It's always been this way as far as I've been playing.  I disagree with it, as you should definitely get an xp award relative to the number of points that cap point generates throughout the fight, shared proportionally with anyone else who helped cap that same point.

Not really sure how this happened.

Hasn't happened to me in either of the tests.

probably to keep people from playing musical bases and farming 500+ cap points per game.

There really should be some kind of reward for capping on domination though. More than whatever small reward you get for the cap/assisted cap ribbon anyway (if you get anything for that)

Yes, at least the ribbon should be worth something.  Doesn't seem to be worth much if anything.

I don't know, if those 500+ cap points contributed to a win - or a close game - shouldn't you get rewarded for them?

Musical caps would be people towards the end of the game drawing it out to the time limit agreeing to swap caps back and forth for bonus points.

Meh, the odd instance of people doing dumb things shouldn't screw the majority of those who wouldn't.  Domination is my favorite game type expressly because it is impossible for it to end in a draw.
