Collision alarm and torp questions...

Greetings All,

Had question or two:   I know you get an "aroooga" alarm and others including a guy running up and down the deck yelling 'the sky is falling' ;) and a visual indicator when you get close to land, but why are there no alarms when ship get close to each other?  There is only 1 person doing everything ( in RL), and can't always see everywhere.  Also, if I am going to 'run aground' on the map wall (the blue line), why is there not an alarm as if it was land if it will affect me like land?

Second question:  there is a visual count down for reload when you fire your guns/switch your ammo, why is there no running count for my torps after I fire them so I know when I can do it again?  Most of the time I am not going to pay attention to the reload noise, too much going on.  And(this is just my not-so-humble option here), but on ships that have fixed torp emplacements, (port/starboard) that have to be fired separately, there should be a reload time indicator for each side you can glance at for reference.

Just Askin'....thanks for all your help!:teethhappy:

Its likely a lot harder for WG to write code that'll set off warnings if there's a ship in your path, as they are constantly moving, as opposed to terrain, which is always in one spot.

I imagine it could also get really annoying if you constantly got collision warnings from teammates you're sailing in a close formation with.

I thought about this before,  but it just to cumbersome for the WOWS to bother with.  Islands would be one thing,  which we mostly hate that avoidance system (I know I have that thing turned off).  To have a horn/whistle (I always grew up calling it a klaxon)  it would have to be set on not proximity but on interception to avoid ships moving in close concert would not be setting it off all the time.  The game would have to make calculations for every ship's heading and speed with each change to every ship it would have to redo everything.  It would be a hassle to work and use up resources for the game.

The best option is KISS  (Keep It Simple Stupid),  situation awareness will keep most of this from happening.  Though I had a BB scoped up the the other other day in a Tier 6 not watching (what the heck he doing that whole time waiting for reloads,  eating a freaking cookie?)  and drove into me as all the ships ahead him were in a turn as we neared the border.  Of course he kept going and drove both of us into an Atago's torps.  UGH.

Just check the map in the lower corner to see if anything even close to you,  then you can look around you,  if needed.  Saying that though,  there is always this one little speck of land that only a flea would call an island that I keep running into with my BBs.  Somehow I have yet to even be hit after running into that darn thing.
