Transferring between two ships

When you research and purchase to the next ship on the next higher tier, is there anything you carry or transfer to the new ship from the lower teir ship you came from? I know you can resign a different captain to the new ship. He just has to be retrained. But how about XP from the other ship or is there anything else you can share or transfer to another ship?

Nope. Just the captain. You can convert ship exp to free exp, but that requires $$$.

You can probably move upgrades over if you use doubloons to unmount them.  Needs $$$
