Subs

Hey there, I was wondering, if later in the game, you developers would add submarines? I think they would be the new destroyers as they would be virtually undetectable. they would be quick, but they couldn't spot enemy ships. I also think that if this is implemented into the game, then each ship should have a different way of destroying them; Battleships would be able to deploy mines in a small area in hopes of scoring a kill, Cruisers would be able to drop explosive barrels in a small area, Destroyers could have guns with increased gun depression so they could shoot into the water, and Carriers would have special planes they could send out that would sweep an area and deploy bombs or something. Of course submarines would have to surface every minute or so for a minute, this makes it much easier for other ships to kill these menaces of the battlefield. The subs should have guns on them (small AA guns or very weak guns) so that they have a fighting chance when they surface. One more thing is that the subs should have a very limited amount of health and should be very hard to achieve in the tech tree. Thank you

They aren't, WG is considering adding them now. (they keep changing their viewpoint)

Using the search function would have brought up many threads with and about subs. The current game engine cannot support them anyway and it is unlikely it will be changed anytime in the future.

 

"they would be quick," Ok, time to pick this nit, except for a couple of late war subs they were all extremely slow when submerged and even on the surface the fastest were only capable of 24 or so knots, The tier 4 Japanese BB Myogi is faster in its top loadout!

They are currently in the game.  They are called Destroyers.  They are invisible (like a sub) and all of a sudden there are Torps coming at you and you never see the source.  Hardly any difference.

Destroyers that can shoot through the water? What?... Also, the Type VII U-Boat went 8 knots submerged, I don't see how that's quick.
