I know this hurts long range dispersion but I have yet to see any issues with it that I can't really handle. While I have been doing well with this set up I am wondering if the secondary range extension mod should be what I am using instead. Are there any opinions on this? Or do you have another suggestion for that slot. Thanks! ^^

I'd probably actually say no for most American BBs (though I'm very tempted to outfit my Arkansas Beta with it and the +dmg module as well to see what hell it can raise in tier 4) as their secondaries seem less effective (really wish we had hard stats here), making the choice more between AA range or main gun range. You can make a case for Colorado, as it has a good number of barrels and a 5km base range, meaning 7km with module and Advanced Firing Training on your captain. Nagato and Warspite both shine with similar secondary ranges. I also find I'm within 7km of an enemy way more often than I am within 5.6km of an enemy (max New Mex range iirc). Also, the increase in dispersion with the FCS module *should* just account for the scaling of the original dispersion at the new, longer, range. You should be just as accurate at a given range as you were before. Otherwise, FCS would be a no-brainer as it would give both better accuray and range. I went AA range on my New Mex as I felt the spotter plane would get me through the first few minutes until I closed to my actual max range. There were a few times I'd wished I had taken the +16% but also plenty when I felt I'd kept my ship afloat by taking down that one extra TB. I think AA Vs Main battery range is the biggest choice to make in USN BBs.

Hmm, I haven't had many issues with planes either, TB's I have the perk to see torps sooner and I start turning well before they get to me, DBs I kinda ignore. Thanks for the ideas though. I can use some of these if I decide to actually grind the Colo instead of skipping it. ^^

The torp acquisition mod wont save you from the insta-torps or multidirectional attack where as the enhanced AA in my eyes gives me a better edge to help defend myself. The Colorado isn't the worst grind either we all know that belongs to the furutaka!

I also have the advanced firing training skill on my commander so the secondaries will open up at around 5.6km with the upgrade and that skill. My secondaries fired 137 shots against cruisers in a game I played yesterday and only scored 21 hits. :/ More thorough testing is required, but the first impressions are not that good. That's about par for secondaries, I generally manage 10-15% hit rate with them. I suspect whatever accuracy they gain from the upgrade is partly "given back" by taking more shots at longer range. If I manage to get in a good, long, and close "pirate fight" with another BB I'll see close to 20% accuracy from secondaries, I see them as largely "free" damage (not requiring my input in order to aim/fire/track etc) and they do start a fair few fires. It's also very mirth inducing when RNG smiles upon you and you detonate a DD making a suicide run (rare).
