I was thinking, while sitting here drunk, why not start out earlier than 1900's? I wouldn't mind seeing old wooden ships from 1400's or something...frigates...blah blah blah. 5th rate, second rate ship of the line. would make for a much broader leveling process...anyways...that's all maybe a future expansion or something. then progress into "ironclads" from American civil war and all. lots of things could be done here...

Interesting idea but i believe WG is trying to keep the time frame 1990s-1960s ish as they did with their other franchises

WG has said no on this (and similar) idea.

 

The WG trinity of WoT/WoWp/WoWs will stay within the early 1900s-1970's.

I wouldn't.  I assume you mean HMS Victory though, 1st rate Ship of the Line vs a 3rd or 4th rate heavy frigate.  That would be comparable to IJN Yamato taking on USS Baltimore or Des Moines, probably with the same result.
