What are you planning to do to address AFK "players" ?

I would like to hear from an actual employee on this. I played 7 games tonight and 5 of them had at least one AFK player in the game, sitting at spawn the entire duration.

This absolutely ruins the game. It seems odd to put so much development into making a game that is fun and challenging but doing nothing to combat this sort of behavior. What is your specific plan to address this issue and prevent this from becoming a permanent "feature" of World of Warships?

well if you think they might be bots check there stats and see if they have large battle counts and little to no damage, take a screen shot and report them

If they're not bot there is a whole slew of reasons that they may possibly be afk and may not be their fault. I've heard tons of complains of the game crashing on people during the load screen, queue, and mid battle.

i find it difficult to believe that all or even many of these afks are due to disconnections that last around 10 minutes. I've never had the game crash once, let alone crash so bad that I couldn't reconnect in less than a minute or two.

I'm talking about people who are afk through an entire match, from beginning to end.

Well, you better start believing it because it's happened to me a few times, usually right at the start of a match.

Ive actually had quite a few games in a DD where I have infiltrated the back field, found a BB that hasnt moved, then as soon as I'm revealed, puts his engine into gear. granted, I tend to kill them, but still. Hard to believe.

I played one earlier tonight where a CV was in the back of the map. Now that's not unusual, CVs are at the back of the map all the time. This one was different. he never moved his carrier or launched a single air strike! Comes down to him being the last one on his team and when the destroyer and cruiser are moving in to finish him off, then he launches all his air craft and tried to run away. Didn't work, but still that was the only time he did anything during the whole match! I couldn't believe it!

Well...good for you and your skynet-quality interwebs connection. Sadly, we have nothing like that here in Hawaii, and many a time significant portions of the island (Oahu) lose not only internet, but the powergrid during an average rain storm. For me personally, losing power for less than 10 min would be great; nominally it takes about 2 hours on a good day, 6 or more hours being about average. In case youre not familiar with Hawaii...it rains alot. Today alone I kept getting booted to my log in screen seemingly endlessly. But hey, didnt lose power and have to worry about stuff in the fridge spoiling, so I wasnt overly worried about it.

Understand your frustration, but if you think 1 guy being afk ruins the game, more than likely your side was gonna lose the match anyway. Unless you are a kid, I would hope that you only find this to be a minor annoyance as their are much bigger issues to be concerned about. This is, after all, just a game.

And...as an after thought...you do know that saying about assuming, right?

May of crashed or been a slow loader.  Hell, this game has a slew of clients that load slow.  Even my own machine loads slow for no apparent reason some rounds.

I know right now my internet has gone from crap to non-working. Before I could easily play WoWS w/o any issues whatsoever. However, as of like, 5 days ago...Whenever my last weekend started (Yay for 3 days off work each time!) the internet just took a nose-dive, where I would get it for, maybe 90 seconds, then have to fix it for the next 15. Then another 90 seconds. Well, at first I didn't know that, logged in, took out my Ryujo...Oh yay! I am the only carrier. With a strike loadout! Ye...erm...torp bombers, obey me. OBEY ME! OBEEEEY MEEEEEE-....Log in!.....Log in!......LOG IN! I gave up after that.

Waited a few days, bill got paid, figured it would work. Normal internet does, but when I loaded WoWS, took out my New Orleans, well...Nothing. Loaded in. Talked. Started my engines. I said, started my engines. "ENGINE ROOM, RESPOND!" Well, yea. Boot to login.

Believe me its their server(s), I am on one end of the US. I have friends in the middle and other end of the coast.  ALL of us are experiencing: lag, FPS drops, disconnects, or rubber  banding.

I think it's a combo of my internet being unbeleivably crap....and the hamsters not having been fed at WG lately.

FPS drops are caused by your system. Forgive me If I don't believe you that it's their server(s) since there is plenty of evidence that WG's servers are quite fine. I, nor anyone I know, have experienced lag, disconnects or rubber banding....except that one time when I was running steam in the background and it hit the scheduled patch download time, then there was a little bit of a lag spike.

Long story short, check your background tasks...or get a new isp.

I'm in Asia and experiencing none of them. Lag and slight desync only once so far, and otherwise fine.

......Actually in the country with the fastest Internet in the world. Server seems fine.

What evidence is that, exactly, that their servers are fine? The fact that your experience thus far is fine, or that you are full of c**** as far as I know, is ultimately pointless. The fact that you arent having the same issues that many in this thread are experiencing in no way makes you superior. Might want to lay turds like this somewhere else.

Can I ask why you play if you know you're not any good?  Is it seriously "just for fun"?

Granted I have to accept that different people have differing definitions of the word fun....

lol Angry much? You yourself stated in your own post that it isn't uncommon where you live to lose power and internet due to rain storms....ie, not the servers that WG are using for WoWs, that's your ISP/power grid letting you down, nothing WG can do about that.

All I can say is that the people I play with, who are spread out across Canada (which really doesn't have a whole lot of great ISP's) haven't once complained about the servers, and there are plenty of twitch streams, and youtube captures that also point to the servers being fine. The servers are common to all of us, if it was the servers fault, we'd all be suffering from the problem, not just a minority. So that must mean...it's on the users end that there is a problem, I don't see how that's hard to deduce.

As for the original topic, other then reporting AFK'ers for being afk, there's nothing that can be done. AFK players will always happen, but repeat offenders will eventually receive a ban after enough reports.

The disturbing trend seems to be players who are there in the start, then don't like the MM draw or their team loses a few quickly.....

Its either just dead in the water or some quick message like " F this" or I'm outta here and they just quit the match.

Seems to be happen quite abit the last 2 weeks or so.

Unlike tanks, if you get kicked during loading, the game often won't let you back in. I've had the game crash several times during loading only to log back into the port

Veil,

Not arguing that our grid issues in 'paradise' have anything to do with WG, just curious how we know its NOT WG servers overall. I have heard in chat many complain about similar issues, and while obviously forum posters are a small sampling of the community at large...the problem seems to be getting worse, and only relatively recently.

Apologies for the tone...was irritated by a work issue and didnt take a breath to calm down and  keep the issue separate from this discussion.

Something is going awry, and its just not the cheap, overworked grid here in Honolulu
