Atlanta torpedeo tubes

Since The Atlanta-class cruisers were the only class of U.S. Navy cruisers commissioned during World War II to be armed with torpedoes tubes, with eight 21" torpedo tubes in two quad launchers. Will it have torpedoes?

Quite sure ingame it contains it, 4 per side and decent enough to be used in a pinch.

She has torps but her primary armament is her guns with that stupid ROF. I think I've only fired the torps two or three times, CBT included.

its more of a emergency weapon if you get yourself in a tricky situation.

They have 4.5km range. Very short, good for emergencies but not much else.

Yes...she has Torps...and there are alot of players that don't remember that to their demise when they catch a face full of them at close range.  Its a very nasty little surprise when things are a bit dicey.

yeah the torps are a surprise weapon, most have no clue the Atlanta has em. I've island ambushed a few times with them, a Cleveland came roaring at me thinking he had me, gave him a full torp broadside. Atlanta Is still an amazingly fun ship

I finally got a decent pair of killshots with Atlanta torpedoes to show how you use them to their full effectiveness.

 

You have to play counter to standard Atlanta play to use them, i.e. minimize your attack profile by not firing too often until they're in-range, and then minimize your broadside profile immediately.

 

Hide behind an island, and kick up your engine for the torpedo attack. They're quite fast for their range, meaning most battleships you fire at are riparoonie if they're not turning already.

I play the Atlanta for it's guns and it's insatiable appetite for planes, not it's torpedoes. But the torpedoes are a bonus if I happen to turn around a island and encounter a BB on the other side.
