Even more complaining about carriers have caused them to be nerfed into the ground, with the AI taking stupid paths on manual drops, torpedoes dropping far back from where you've actually set them, and far less aircraft.

Hooray~

Carriers are fine. The new paths are technically a buff because that's the ARMING RANGE

could you please explain what the new paths are? I'm on mobile and won't be able to install the beta for some while.

Old TB aiming showed where torpedoes were dropped. New TB aiming shows where torpedoes become armed. Like DD torpedo arcs where torpedoes are armed once they reach the big wedge.

The bigger change was that IJN CVs until Tier 9 lost their 3 torpedo bomber option.

Which was long due.

I love CV driver tears. Indeed, the ridiculous strike option for IJN needed a tone-down. The new manual drop template is a good thing for CV drivers, imo.

 nerfed into the ground

The fact that you celebrate one class becoming useless in your eyes is disgusting.

Um....he plays CVs as well and I'm thinking maybe he was being sarcastic.

Which is hilarious because IJN has wicked-wide drops compared to the dense 6-torpedo block that USN gets, not to mention higher tier USN carriers start to get more TB squadrons.

Disgusting?  Turn down the emo there Anime guy. It's a balance move, one of many that an MMO goes through over the life of the game.  Of course if you are saying that low to mid tier IJN CV's were balanced before hand, we know where you are coming from .....

I'm thinking more and more I need to switch to USN. My current IJN CV only gets 2 TBs now, with a huge spread and less damage per torpedo. Doesn't really seem worth it...

But then I have to grind up through the USN lines, and deal with the Bogue when I get to it...

People feel planes should be soft as butter and any ship that had good AA should be relativly immune to air attack.

"Death Drops" ...........  oh you mean they well timed their incoming planes to drop in accordance to your predicted motions and thus took lots of damage?....like a battleship well timing their lead and range and slapping you with a citadel hit.......honestly the "nerf this, buff that" rhetoric is sometimes infantile in it's display.

I finally see the day that carriers no longer have magic 100 feet from hull instant death drops. Plays we are the champions by queen

More like Beck's "Loser" song given there isn't a single high tier CV players that doesn't rely rely on this garbage mechanic for wins.

While it may be true IJN and high tier USN carriers are overperforming, you cannot dismiss the skill involved in timing drops and multitasking.

That is a nice change!  When I finally get around to playing carriers (not until the devs officially state CVs are in a stable place and "working as intended"), I was planning to look for a mod that did just that.

As usual, my hat is off to all current CV drivers for enduring this apparent roller coaster ride of changes that I'm too lazy to adapt to.:honoring:  Carriers are looking on track to being a fun class indeed!

Sounds like a buff to me for some players. There will be alot less dead drops now.

I started playing CV for the first time in open beta last night, and I didn't find it all that easy.  I did figure out how to manually drop torps after becoming really frustrated at the crazy wide spreads my IJN TBs were making.  Hats off to the folks who can coordinate multiple, simultaneous manual drops from different attack vectors.  It'll be interesting to see how these changes work out.  I played USN CV in CB (never tried manual drops then), and I'm not sure if things changed with 0.4.0 or if it's just that IJN CV play is different.

RnGeesus yes, but if a target is ranged properly, I aim correctly, and he's broadside to me, i land a good hit nonethe less, the chance of nothing and it all straddling is low.
