Minimum distance required to air drop torps

I think torpedoes are not op, historically they were very potent and 1 hit could potentially sink a ship of ANY kind. The problem i see is the minimum distance required to drop a torp and their altitude. Torpedo bombers in ww2 were often decimated because they had to fly at a specific altitude and and specific  speed in order to properly drop their fish (torps) on a target. The torpedo had to sort itself out so to speak once in the water the prop would kick in then it would level to the proper cruising depth. In game as it stands now they circle over a ship do this silly hairpin turn over the target maybe 100m out then all of the sudden a sierra spread of torpedoes magically appear near the ship with no hope for evasion. As I first mentioned the torps are not OP, its the approach and release thats needs an overhaul. I played this game all day today and had a blast but this really needs to be addressed. Go watch some ww2 footage and you will know precisely what i mean. This has nothing to do with my stats or skill as a player it is just clearly not the best mechanic right now that needs some work.

100m torps are common in game now and are OP, IMO give the CVs more planes and remove the manual drop that way players would stop complaining about torps since their AI controlled :trollface:

 

CV player get more planes to make up for the manual drop loss is fair imo

100m torps are common in game now and are OP, IMO give the CVs more planes and remove the manual drop that way players would stop complaining about torps since their AI controlled :trollface:

 

CV player get more planes to make up for the manual drop loss is fair imo

 

Alright, remove manual drop. But then make any ships main gun auto-fire as well, with the same accuracy as secondaries.

Just give the carriers better AA then. This is the CVs only I'm talking about you know.

 

Carriers are meant for srategy... CV players will drop if subs come anyways unless they add depth charge planes.

the solution would allow carrier to do an X attack more often and be more tactic than the current state of delivering as close as you can after the ship tried to ''dodge'' your first fake attack

I agree partly, CVs shoulld have more planes but they still need a more realistic mechanic  ie altitude , approach and min distance dropped its way to silly at the moment. Argon read the post again I said this has nothing to to do with players tactics its needs to be fixed.

So are you a super tester?

 

Have you search for OP torps or any other thread to see all the complaints about torps and or CVs

 

27 of those in a CVs main target the BB

Get an escort with AA to help you or play a different tree

 

And realistically, this is not a SIMULATOR

It is a game, a TEAM game

 

They are working on something not to kill the CV but help balance

Have you seen when a 1 Tier lower sends 2 fully upgraded fighter groups against 1 enemy fighter and all  the lower tiered fighters get shot down with none in return

I did, I was the one tier down 

 

I shot down 51 planes in another game because the other 2 CVs on the other team were 1 tier down

And I had fighters left

 

Player tactics is EXACTLY what this is about

They have them and you have nothing to counter it in your favorite class, BBs

Get an escort 

Stay with a group

Use tactics to counter theirs

 

 

Sorry for the rant but you hit a sore spot with me

Only the physics of the aircraft are broken, TB's not a long run in at low altitude to stabilize the gyros and proper attack profile for the weapon. This zoom over and then drop on the other side is pretty unreasonable. This is my opinion. 

 

Ship launched torpedoes need a minimum arming distance also, no one in their right mind would eject torpedoes over the side with a chance the warhead could go off on impact with water.

As my football coach always says, "Just because someone is a freshman that doesn't mean they can't have a valid point". However in this case I feel that torps launched from CVs are perfectly fine. If you start turning in a BB and have an AA escort, you can really make the CV player rage because you kill all his planes before  he can get a good line of fire.

This I can agree with. Though it should be something minor, maybe like 1km or 1.5 km. When a DD gets to within .2km of me and launches a salvo of torps, I don't end up with a happy face.

Keep manual drop, remove auto drop, give aircraft dropped torpedoes a 2km arming distance. Or 1.5.km. Would prefer 2km.

 

I could live with that, 2km would be my preference also.

What annoys me is that the people who stay with the carriers will end up getting good at this.  Then there will be another demand for distance increase.

Quite a few are already that good, some chance to avoid and maybe shoot the planes down is better than no chance at all which is often the case with the good CV drivers.
