So I decided to list which ship classes had the most units for each type using the addon. (Only doing America and Japan) Japan: Destroyer: Kagero-class with 18 ships Cruiser: Kuma-class with 5 ships Battleship: Yamato-class with 4 ships Carrier: Zuiho-class, Hiryu-class, and Shokaku-class all with 2 ships America: Destroyer: Fletcher-class with 175 ships Cruiser: Cleveland-class with 29 ships Battleship: Iowa-class with 6 ships Carrier: Essex-class with 26 ships Something's a bit off... Do some research and this entire post is explained pretty much. WG likes to mess things up. Edited August 13, 2015 by ShermanMedium

Yeah, the model of 6" gun in question wasn't dual purpose, so they wanted to remove them for more dual purpose guns. Can't remember if they were 3.9" or 5"/40s. The Yamato and Musashi recieved said modification in 1944.

What is your point? Then numbers look good. Are you just pointing out the epic industrial might of the US back then?

Japan had neither. That's part of why they started the war to begin with.

When a B-17 came off the line every 20 seconds and where destroyers and escort carriers could be built like a Motel T assembly line compared to other ships. 20 [WWA] Zodiac_A17 Alpha Tester 193 posts 2,389 battles Report post #12 Posted August 13, 2015 "By war's end in 1945, the United States Navy had added nearly 1,200 major combatant ships, including 27 aircraft carriers and 8 battleships, and had over 70% of the world's total numbers and total tonnage of naval vessels of 1,000 tons or greater. At its peak, the U.S. Navy was operating 6,768 ships on V-J Day in August 1945, including 28 aircraft carriers, 23 battleships, 71 escort carriers, 72 cruisers, over 28 submariens, 377 destroyers, and thousands of amphibious, supply and auxiliary ships." Copy paste from wiki; the first numbers (27 and 8) for carriers and battleships is referring to modern ships.

And plenty of resources as was pointed out. The japanese industry even before war, was disorganized and the scarce resources didn't help the matter any.
