Will an 'elited' ship gain the same extra xp multiplier as a premium ship for ship xp? The way i've read that is that the difference between an premium ship and an elited ship is that the premiums gain more free xp. And if there is a difference is it significant?

Not sure if there is an advantage to owning a premium ship or not. Been eyeing that Atago...

No, Elite ships have the same xp multiplier as a non-Elite ship. Elite status just allows you to use doubloons to convert Ship XP to Free XP. Not sure on the Premium ship XP multiplier, though I believe it is 1.5x.

The way to think of it is this.

A Premium vessel has three advantages.  It earns more XP, earns more Credits, and can take a captain from any ship (of the same nation) without needing to retrain him and without penalty to his skills, so it can be used as a captain trainer.  They are given these advantages so that they will be worth real money (or have some value as a reward or gift vessel -- e.g., the Albany).  However to keep them from being pay to win, the are also made slightly less capable than a fully upgraded normal ship of the same type and tier.

On the other hand, an Elite vessel is simply one that has been fully researched, so there is no place to spend any additional XP it earns.  Once a ship researches everything that can be researched from it, it is given Elite status to allow you to convert any XP earned on the ship into Free XP, which can then be spent on any ship/module.  Of course, to do this, you have to spend Gold Doubloons to do the conversion.  This has two purposes. Obviously, it is designed to allow them to make money from the conversion, but it is also a limiting factor so that people cannot farm low tier battles on Elite ships in order to buy upper tier ships and modules without it costing them something in return, in this case, real money.

Since a Premium Vessel has only one configuration, it has no modules to research.  Since a Premium vessel has no ships that lead off of it, there are no ships to research from a Premium.  As such from the start, there is no place to spend XP earned on a Premium vessel.  Thus, Premiums are automatically classified as Elite vessels so that you can convert the XP they earn into Free XP.  Otherwise, there is no connection between the two classifications.

In other words, you can convert XP to Free XP on a Premium vessel because there is nowhere else to spend that XP, so it is an Elite vessel by its very nature.  However, Elite vessels do not get the Premium bonuses because Premiums are gimped compared to their fully upgraded peers, and if you can get the same bonuses by simply getting those peers to Elite status, what would be the point of getting a Premium?

Thanks for that in depth reply.

And thats (the underlined section) where i have an issue with a premium ship. I like supporting that hwich i like and have no issues about it. However it feels as if the largest advantage about having a premium ship is the increased xp (and gain) for conversion into free xp than you've just kinda pigeon holed yourself into spending more money on the gold to convert to free xp. Because if the increased silver was something you really needed you'd be better off just going premium account.

Kind of a stuck between a rock and a hard place situation. I wanna support the game but i dont know how to in which benefits me the most in the long run. Atago looks amazing, could be replaced in the future. Doubloons only useful for conversion to free xp, and a premium account good for the silver and reduced grind.
