Guess I should be pleased WG saved me 300 Gold.  Now I can turn my Minekaze into an artificial reef and gain a ship slot!

RIP

So you have decided that you don't like it now even though you haven't even had a chane to try it out in its new form?

So you are suggesting I might like it better in its new form?  I think I understand the significance of the the changes.

The ship was seriously OP. They are balancing it. This is a good thing. I can't wait for this change.

It was fine, these stealth torp stuff is very rare, because many people have no clue on how to do it.

It's a mega nerf, you don't need to test that.  As of 4.1 the Gremy, will become the top tier V DD as premium no less and it wasn't lacking far behind the Minekaze to begin with.

No question that the Minekaze was OP, but it wasn't massively OP, and every tier and class needs ships like that as carrot. What you don't want is single lines that are OP which isn't being address right now.

With current logic, they should nerf the St Louis, Omahas, Iowa, all CV's aside from the Bogue, and tier X's.

Uhm, what's the whining about?

Nerfing doesn't mean the ship will be bad,  it means you as a player need to adjust your playstyle. As for st louis, that ship is there for New player to get interested in the game, cause it doesnt need skill, later in the game the new players will get smacked in the face with other lines they grind.

Maybe you will, maybe you won't but change should be an expected part of MMO games. Yeah your window of undetectability is going to be mighty small but until you actually test it you really can't say you won't like it. The US DD players survived the smoke nerf and the Japanese DD players will survive this.

The Minekaze works fine with the shorter ranged torpedoes, in fact I prefer using them even before the update because they were faster and detected later.

I couldn't fight other destroyers or cruisers with them, but I need the long range torpedoes when I'm doing stealth missions inside the enemy base.  Like reconning and sinking their 2x CV's.  It kind of kills the charm when you can't do that anymore.

On the bright side, I can afford the Mutsuki.  So as long as that destroyer keeps the 10k torps, I should be able to make the switch if the Minekaze can't meet my expectations.

Same here.  Still use the 7km torps due to their 68 knot speed.

Saw a minekaze launching torps at 18km away at a Colorado.  No joke.  Guess what?  He still missed the BB.  LOLZ

None of my Minekaze's kills have been from more than 8k away and I switched back to the 7k torps. I'm fine with this change.

Cannot EZ-mode therefore sell? What?

It doesn't fit my playstyle.  I like to sneak around the map and have the enemy guess where I am.  If you only have a .8km margin of error which can be defeated just by making a turn, the nin nin becomes a running battle at 5km.

10km torps is definitely not EZ-mode.  Other destroyers are your foil since you don't know they're there until you see them.   And they'll see you.  The only tools to get away is smoke cloud, or your 4 guns that can't turn fast enough to track a battleship.  Good luck on the torpedoes, they're too slow.

Cruisers are the same story.  Phoenix and Omaha are fast enough to stick to you like glue.  They've got a ton of guns.  And your torpedoes aren't going to hit them.

I used faster torps anyway.  Used to US DD'S so no big deal.

It got a 300 m nerf to its detection range. Means you have a 800 meter buffer to launch torps in stealth. Not the end of the world.

aren't the slower ones harder to spot?

Easier.  From what I've heard, spotting range is directly correlated to torpedo distance.  Like 30% or something.  So 10km torps (the slower ones) get spotted at 3km and 7km get spotted at 2.1km.

I love it when the prime seal-clubbing vehicles get nerfed to hell and back.

I think it's actually 20% distance, but honestly, now I flat out can't remember after seeing your 30% number  :)

Spoken like a true CA Captain who spends 70% of his time in cruisers or battleships.  Cruisers are the easiest ship to consistently score experience.

Most Minekaze drivers tend to follow the same tactic of blindly firing ballistic range torpedoes at enemy ships continuously while running just out of view range and rarely doing much more. It was OP'd in some hands, but worse was creating very bad habits for others because they would never engage and just endlessly spam torps even if it cost them the game. In other words, encourage more cowardly play rather than risk taking. I don't want DD nerfs and feel most of the line needs a buff, but not this thing.
