 No carrier and our most powerful ship is destroyed in the first few minutes by a torpedo spam attack from the carrier.

 Needless to say we were annihilated, I hit a few but the constant torpedo spam from the planes and destroyers finally took me out.

One of this games that you may as well quit as soon as it loads..

Why quit? Yes it sucks but have been on the the bad side of MM, like your load above and still won. People need to stop looking at load outs and quitting- don't play the game at all if that's what you're going to do. Don't punish your team just because you don't like it.

If you're annoyed by torpedo spam from one single Hosho, then you my as well quit now.  Sorry to be a bit of an [edited], but, one single Hosho is hardly comparable to later tiers two CV games with 3 TB squads each. (plus bombers)

I don't like it much either but I know it's there and I know that's how it is and I deal. It doesn't stop me and I don't let it get to me.

Uhhhh, what ships get three squadrons of torpedo planes each? The USN does not get a carrier with 2 torpedo squadrons until tier 9!! As far as I can see, the USN gets no carrier able to foist 3 squadrons of torpedo planes at the enemy.

Ummm.... there was nothing wrong with that match making. If you think you lost because of the Hosho you're dead wrong. You lost because your team wasn't as good as the other team.

RNG proves far superior to any amount of team talent. You could have a team on one side with all of the game devs and pro player, the other team consist on weekend warriors who get maybe 20 battles a week at best. The pros can easily be beaten with the RNG.

No it doesn't. RNG may effect specific shots and damage rolls but overall player performance is still the deciding factor.

 

IJN CV are definitely on the strong side but 8/12 ships on the OP's team are fast and fully capable of evading torpedo drops if they're paying attention. There's no reason why they couldn't win this game.

RNG dominates the luck factor with this game. My cruiser burst into flames every hit it received earlier, yet the next round I took a dozen hits and not a single flare up..

 RNG dominates WoT, the same type of game in a water environment is not going to be much different.

It may be late, but I just want to throw out there that carriers actually don't mean a whole lot when it comes to winning a game. That is, if both team's ships are fairly equal (apart from carriers), and we're also disregarding player skills, the match should not be decided by said carrier(s). Yeah, there are cases where you'll lose anyways, but that's natural and more conspicuous since the human mind tends to focus more on things that go wrong. Example, going by your screenshot:

This is one example of many where carrier distribution simply did not exist. The enemy team had a tier 10 Midway, while we had nothing. They also had better battleship configurations too. But in the end, we still came out on top. As said, there will be so many games like this at higher tiers, especially between 7-10. Uneven carrier distribution is so abundant later on that you may as well not even worry about them much if at all. Not Exaggerating

 

The thing is that, yeah, it's annoying to have to dodge torpedo bombers while painstakingly aware that you have none of your own.. But as TurboT stated above, it gets way worse at higher tiers, especially with swarms of torpedo and dive bombers But who knows, maybe you'll turn into someone like me who just plain and simple ignores carrier circumstances most of the time (till they make a game changing move, or come straight for you) since so much sh*t has been seen prior.. But yeah, don't think of unfair carrier distribution as instant win/loss, it really doesn't work like that in the end. Think of them as minor inconveniences if they're facing you.

Yeah, it's called the Japanese line. And you may hear in the future, people ranting about how OP it is.

 

Regarding the last statement, let's jump to tiers 4-6 and form a team consisting of some of the more 'accomplished' players in the high tier spectrum. Running numerous games over and over, it would become a pub-stomp really fast. For the sake of discussion, I'll ask what aspects of RNG you are talking about?

I feel your pain, except this wasn't necessarily an instance of bad matchmaking.  Your team had better ships, overall.  They had a CV, but only a T4.

 

Now you can argue that there should always be an equal number of CVs on each team, and that they should be of equal tiers, and I wouldn't argue with you.

 

But this is nothing compared to matches I've seen.  CV matchups get much worse.  :(

If they released a micro patch with just the carrier balances tomorrow...90% of the gripe on the forums would vanish.
