Better off quitting out early with garbage MM.

There is no point in playing more than hitting tab and seeing the load out.  You are better off just flat out quitting right at the beginning and going to a new ship than play some imbalanced MM.  You lose absolutely nothing and only gain at that point.  I can get in a game and into a new game in under 3 minutes.  Why spend 15 trying to make a loser win?  With 4 classes and multiple countries.  It makes no sense to even sit in a game if it is remotely unbalanced in the other teams favor. Fix your MM before everyone figures this out.

well when you get awesome game like I had were we got 4 extra tier 6 ships and they got 4 extra tier 9 is it any wonder.  Oh and love our tier 5 carrier vs their tier 8, thats balance!  To be clear we had 4 ships more than them, they had 5 tier 9 (and the rest tier 7 and 8) we had 1 tier 9 1 tier 8 1 7 and aton of 6s

Don't say you can't do anything- I've been in the bottom tier plenty of times and still damaged ships, spotted the enemy for the higher tiers and bought some time for CV's. There's plenty to do and not every game is a loss.

The Atago pretty much threw a hissy fit at the MM and left immediately.

If that was his first win, he got a nice fat 0 for his 1.5 multiplier. He also had survived with about 2k hp remaining, so there's a repair bill. So yeah, you totally can lose things. Plus, you certainly don't gain anything for quitting as well.

This evening I was in a game in my Shokaku and the enemy team had a Hakuryu.  They also had an extra tier 10 Yamato than us.

We won handily.

Sometimes, even when MM gives you the raw deal, you overcome.   You can't know this if you quit the battle before it barely starts.

Screw that. If it's pretty much going to be a loss, I stop playing for the win and just play to farm as much damage as I can for as long as I can.

I was in a match a few days ago. I was in a t4 Hosho. We had a t4 Langley on our team. The enemy team got... 2 t5 zuiho's. Everyone on my team was saying things like "We're screwed!" at the start of the match.

We creamed them. The zuiho drivers weren't very good, and didn't really know their jobs. Their team scattered around the map, while ours grouped together and went up one flank. I followed the group, so close I was getting shot at, but had one of my best tier 4 games ever. The Langley fended off 3 combined airstrikes from both carriers (that's 6 waves of planes) but somehow survived. It was epic.

...but, it was also one-of-a-kind. Too often, unbalanced teams just leads to a frustrating match.

Your basing the MM on bad choices. Yes the CV issue is part of the MM and WG already stated they are addressing it. You fail to read the Q&A and quit the game. At least with MM here you can lose and still walk away with 1200 exp base. I would not complain so much. In tanks unless you have the sun shine on a dogs [edited]and do 5k damage on a loss you will never see them numbers.

If you want to win an unbalanced game you are on the wrong side of - support your destroyers and try to get some early kills and play aggressive.

Two things can happen here -

1.) You get an early advantage and probably win

2.) You lose quickly

Never give up! NEVER SURRENDER!

I find myself having to use that quote a lot these days, not just in this game either.

At this point I'd suggest those frustrated or angry to play CO OP.   I don't play Random now because I don't want to have the frustration that you read in so many of these posts.   Once they fix something I'll return to playing that.   I'll just make the following points about Co_OP.

Most people don't have to have the next best ship on some time schedule.   While CO OP is slower,  but you sill still get there.  It's a great place to upgrade your ship from stock condition.

Playing well still gets you a decent amount of XP and Silver per battle.   Also your net damage to yourself usually is lower

There is no [edited]and the quality of conversations on comms is much better

Every battle is balanced

It's a great opportunity to tune your skills gunnery, aircraft, torpedoes

The battles are quicker,  less reward,  but more battles over an aggregate time

I actually think peeps play better as a team in co op

So what OP is saying is that he's a coward who only likes to fight when HE has the advantage.  Poor, poor baby.

Get where?  To tier 6-8, where you then are just as worthless of a player as the completely new players who derp their way into an Atlanta or Atago?

Some of the most inept players I have seen coop their way into a Cleveland and then start doing random matches...

Derp Coop Cleveland backs up and then moves halfway across the map, in the backfield, to BB's moving the other direction.

Derp Coop Cleveland:  "I'm going to escort the BB's"

Me:  "The battleships don't need an escort as the enemy only has a Bogue, and it's a fighter configuration."

Derp Coop Cleveland:  "Clevelands were designed to provide AA" and continues face-hugging our BB's.

Me:  <facepalm>

I have a better idea.  If you get into a game and you are sure you can not win the battle and you think you should leave the match do the following:

  1. Press escape and return to port.
  2. Exit the game.
  3. Do not return.
  4. Go to step 3.

You know, people get mad at this, I rarely do it.... but after a savage losing streak of say, 10 losses when you are constantly out carriered/tiered, sometimes frustration simply rules. Even worse when you are constantly on the top for your team in exp and fight hard, but just blowouts each time because of stupid MM.

How about WG fixes MM rather than yell at people for afk'ing? Sure, you can win an occasional lopsided battle, but more often than not, just a waste of time and makes you mad.

If you hit the battle button and a family member requires you to stop playing that's one thing.  Quitting (let's call it what it is) and leaving your team mates in a worse position because you feel the odds are stacked against you; that's the act of a poltroon.  Encouraging people to act in that manner; that's the act of a ... well I'm not allowed to use such language on the forums.

I agree in theory, I really do.

But I had a 20 game streak of completely lopsided MM that destroyed by Fuso record, a ship I am good in. Sometimes you just gotta rebel out of frustration.

It is also an act of..... well..... to design such a terrible MM system. So I agree, but disagree to  a point.

MM is COMPLETELY FINE except for CV balancing.

Tell that to me when you get a few T IV DDs and they get 6 Minekaze's, 4 of which are in divisions..... or they get 5 Clevelends when you get 1 and a few Phoenixes.
