Cleveland's Scout destroys 12 planes....

So, I'm the only CV in the match in open ocean map.  I have a flight of fighters and a flight of bombers.  I scout with the fighters, and send in the TB's diagonally across the map.  I see an Arkansas Beta and let loose my first volley.  As my TB's turn to go back to the CV, I turn my attention to my fighters when I hear the announcement "Group 3 destroyed".  Immediately I think What The ****?  I go back to their position, just a scout plane.  So I send in the fighters.  Within 3 seconds, all six fighters are dead.  Is this a buff to scout planes now?  That a level 6 scout, can immediately take out 12 lvl 5 planes?  6 Fighters no less?

 

 

...and no the Cleveland was no where near, it was the scout plane and open water.

A properly spec'd Cleveland can get effective AA out to 7, 7.5 km. So while it may not have been 'near'....it was still there, and the scout fighter orbits the mothership.

Um that scout plane hovers around a Cleveland.  Pretty sure the ship got your fighters for the most part.

If the scout is engaging your fighters, it is within the Cleveland's engagement range. With the Defensive Fire skill activated, that's a plane every 3 seconds, with super-high rolls capable of downing up to 3 in a single second.

I feel I should respond to this as that was me in the match. The scout plane did not take out your planes it was my AAA that did it because i activated my anti aircraft cool down.

Actually, you'll start scoring hits and kills as far as 8km with a AA range spec'd Cleveland.  It's dual gun AA bubble is absolutely silly.

I'm pretty sure the cleveland just shot down all of your aircraft... Try using a battleship, they're fun to kill when you use one

They are a bit more powerful than they should be. Throwing a TB or DB squad into disarray is perfectly acceptable but the killer float planes are too much.

I have had this happen with Omahas and their AA is pretty meh at the range the float plane operates at. My Bogues fighter squadron was vaporized.

in all my missions I've gotten 1 kill from my scout plane...1

My Cleveland AA cooldown totally vaporizes an air squadron in a few seconds.  The floatplane is only good for disrupting bomber attacks.
