Iowa should be renamed the 'USS free XP scrub magnet'

Noticed a trend the past week or two. Iowa's showing up with captains I don't recognize as ever playing Colorado's or NCs, but I recall playing a lot of premiums. Now I'm getting these guys in matches and watching them sink faster than a redneck launching fireworks from an inflatable raft. Seems we have our quota of premium players now cashing in their lemming XP after the start of OBT, diving into tier 9 BB's and basically spreading the suck.

 

Watched a division of them yesterday get wiped out in the first few minutes of the match when the opposing team didn't have a single tier 9 anything. They just sat in chat and typed 'LoL' as they got trashed. Today...same thing. Iowa players I don't recognize getting no kills and driving like tier 4 noobs, bragging about their guns, and then turning into an artificial reef.

 

Ya know, I've been opposed to XVM for WoWs because of the toxicity, but if this keeps up I'm jumping on the bandwagon. Hats off to Mourneblade and the rest of high tier BB drivers who earned their way up the ladder and know how to engage.

OP - you had to know that if it happens in WoT it's going to happen here. People with money are always looking for the quick fix instead of getting the experience they need in prior ships of the line so they can be effective in higher tiers. Same for XVM unfortunately as well as the toxic egotistical stat mongers.

Premium ships earn money for the game developer, but really do create a bad environment later on in the game.  I've seen my win rate drop from almost 60% to almost below 50 while playing amongst purchased ships (Atago, Atlanta) while grinding the Shokaku.  The fail is everywhere. 

 

I appreciate the game dev's need to make money to profit and keep the servers going, but the tier 7+ premium ships are a real problem in many ways.  I dread the pending German premium people are salivating over, basically for the fail players in them, the horrible game play as a result, and also the lack of variety it will bring to higher tier matches.

Mourneblade benefited from racing tiers and acquiring his ship playing against lower tiers all the time.  He's bad, I kill him in my CV often. Ask him.

Yes because creating "more" ships will somehow decrease the variety of the game.........??? Just look at tanks, does the game go into fail-mode at T7+ ? Absolutely not and probably the opposite actually. Besides the pay to win aspect, premium ships and particularly high tier prems are the best way to grind credits. Right now we are very early into the games release, most players haven't had the time to get a Natural tier 8, let alone Multiple tier 8s. Once the public has had a chance to catch up you will start to see much more variety, and likely 3-4 prems Total in a game, of any type. Like 2 Atago and a Tirpitz. Also most tier 8+ players in normal ships are terrible players right now, just give the game time to catch up and all will be well.

Granted there are plenty of Iowa n00bs, I seen quite a few that just park their ship outside the cap on Island of Ice Encounter  and gradually backup when they receive fire.

I saw an Iowa on islands of ice in encounter mode sit still broadside to the cap.. lol. I'm all for people advancing and using free xp but at least know how to play the ship you are playing. 95% of Atagos are XP pinatas that I love to shoot at.

I'm of the opinion that you need to have grinded a ship up to the same tier as whatever premium you're going to buy, but since that would cost WG profits, that'll never happen.

Tiger 1 was garbage for many years, now is just average at best. Bismarck is looking to be garbage too, so you very well may have a point.

has nothing to do with smart and everything with how wargaming treats russian..  everything.  i fully expect russian ships to have romulan cloaking devices, jump jets to avoid torps, laser targeting, and torpedoes fully equipped with warp drives.

In this game, the bad players will be targeted first. Not the good ones.

 

DDs that can stealth torp want to launch torps at bad players who sail in straight lines. Same with CV drivers. CA and BB drivers want to shoot at players who sail in straight lines.

 

A bad player can still be a halfway decent shot in this game, so eliminating their guns as quickly as possible makes focus firing the good player happen all the quicker because the bads on your team will be shooting at them too because you eliminated the enemy bad.
