Is this a thing now?  I've seen it happen twice.  I didn't capture a screenshot the first time so it could have been the same person, but are others seeing this behavior?

I know wargaming hate the comparison, but carriers are the arty of World of Warships. They sit at the back of the map and click. I do wonder if they can torpedo themselves or do they have to drive right at the enemy?

In the screenshot they torpedoed their own ship.

Ironically, this is a viable tactic if your about to die in domination to deny the enemy team the huge boost in points

If I'm in a T4 CV put up against a Bogue with the fighter package, I torpedo myself because I just give him free XP from him shooting down all my planes. Friendly AA is too weak to kill his fighters before he kills all my planes even if I lure him into it. Without fail, I ultimately get camped by his fighters and then their DDs/CAs come and finish me off.  It's painful and frustrating so why put myself through that agony when I can just torpedo myself and then actually go to another game where I can make a contribution?

It's no different than just sailing right into the enemy except I deny them points. If you don't like me doing this, blame the matchmaker, not me.

That's a player with no skill and no sack.

While I agree it's also indicative of how out of whack things are.  The guy knows he's not going to accomplish anything, so he goes to get another ship and have some fun.  On one hand I don't fault him, because I look and see Essex vs Ranger and there's only one outcome.  My problem with it is, he's dicking over his teammates pretty bad by forcing them to be down a ship with no aircover.

What good is air cover if your planes can't do crap except get shot down in droves by the higher level CV? You just get to sit there seething in fury while all your planes melt against his and you're lucky if you can even kill a couple of them. It's is no fun at all. Believe me.

That is interesting.  So in that case your team just gets the loss of points from losing the CV, but the other team doesn't get the gain from the kill credit?

normally your team loses twice as much points as the.enemy gains when your killed. but when you kill yourself b4 they can your team still loses the same points but the enemy gains none.

in other words, a smart clan wars tactic, scuttle your own ships before the enemy can benefit from them like they did IRL

I was going to die once a long time ago in a combination match and lose so I scuttled myself and we won by about 10 points

Sigh... No, they are NOT "the arty of World of Warships," and at the same time, arty in WoT do not just simply "click boom kill." This needs to stop.

It also lets the enemy CV know they don't have to worry about your CV or planes one bit.  They can from the start focus on other ships.

Sounds like someone doesn't realize it's not a party without an arty.

It saves 15-20 minutes of my life where I can actually have fun vs being useless and frustrated. To me, that's worth being insulted by some random person on the Internet.

Fixed that for you.  Seriously the only thing carriers and SPG's have in common is a unique perspective in the game.

This will not be permitted in clan wars, or any competition, it would fall under the un-sportsman like conduct.
