Izokaze Surface Detection Range

Just a little while ago, I was trying to get within 6.5 km of a cruiser to torpedo it. Soon as I got within 6.5 km but not 6.1 km (I was watching it closely) it opened up on me with it's batteries. There were no planes in the area so I guess the listed surface detection range of the Izokaze isn't 6.1 km.

Is there a battle flag or something that allows someone to see a destroyer past it's detection range? I haven't fired my guns, just was using my torpedoes.

Why?

I also noticed, that I been detected way to early from my detection range. 6.3km when Sit. Aware lits up.

Because there's a chance it might increase the range that you're detected...

For the record. No, I wasnt boosted.

Maybe its WG typo, isokaze meant to be detected at 6.5km, but 6.1km shown instead.

Firing your guns?

Earlier in the game, yes. I wonder how long after you lose the detection after firing guns?

Were you using your boost?

I think I was trying to catch up to the cruiser.

Firing bumps up your detection for something like 20 seconds or so. Having your boost active bumps up your detection by 0.2km regardless of what DD you are boosting in.

You didn't mention having Situation Awareness, so do you have it? If so, why not? It's the most important tier 1 skill for DDs. Not knowing when you were spotted exactly could mean that your were within spotting range of some other ship you did not notice or an even stealthier IJN DD.

We were alone. I was creeping up on him when he suddenly fired on me. Thinking about it, chasing a cruiser to torpedo it while it was moving away from me was probably a bad move. Oh well.

I just finished the Isokaze grind, and was never spotted outside of 6.1 km. Is it possible another ship was nearby (another IJN destroyer, perhaps?) that spotted you for the cruiser?

If the cruiser was a high enough tier, it could have been equipped with the 'Target Acquisition System'.  I haven't figured out the exact metrics of this mod yet (because I can't afford it yet)....whether it increases player view range by 20%, or increases enemy ships detectability range.  I believe it's the former, but even it was the latter, that'd put your detection range at 7.32km, not 6.5km.  Sounds like you were being proxy spotted by something hidden from you, or the game was glitching.

I noticed the same. I'd suggest putting on camo. It makes your detection range 5.9 exactly. Also make sure you have AA guns off, if they fire, you are spotted.

OP, most likely you were getting spotted by a spotter plane that you had not spotted yourself. This is actually quite common in DD's.

This is not how that modification works. It has no effect on your ships spotting range; it just affects the users view range. In other words, it does not increase the range at which he can spot new targets, but it does increase the range at which his client draws targets that are already spotted. If you notice on the minimap, this draw range is denoted by the light grey wedge; this mod just extends the length of the wedge.

It is of limited use, because in the case of most ships, it just draws targets further outside your gunrange than before. There are much better mods to use at that tier.

OP. Do you have the skill that will show if you are detected by planes or ships? If you do then I have no idea what happened, since I had to play the Izokaze to get the Minekaze, and this has never happened to me before.
