10 [TEETZ] Brigadine Members 44 posts 3,308 battles Report post #1 Posted July 24, 2015 All of the tier 5 through 10 DDs stock have 5 guns and 4 torp launchers and upgrade to 4 guns and more AA. Honestly, it is so not rewarding to tier up...

There's not enough improvement until you get to tier IX and X to justify the cost of research and purchase. I don't play CV's or DD's much either, so I can't comment on them. Does WG really think I'm going to spend that much to go from a Cleveland to a Pensacola? So not happening. Edited July 24, 2015 by Leeferr

Even getting and paying for free Exp requires you to play as many games on other vehicles in order to do that, or play just one vehicle as much. No one would want to play if they got the Montana in ten minutes, nor would they know how to. You make people WANT to play the game. This is how wargaming makes games, it's how war thunder does, how call of duty does, it's how this sort of multiplayer treadmill game works. I get it if that kind of gameplay isn't fun to you, then stay in low tiers, but the truth is that all games like this, have a steep grind increase and this here is no different from WoT

A large amount of their launch player base hit max level and geared out complelety, we all got bored and quit because the devs where trying to fix bugs and exploits while pushing content patches to try and keep us happy. The more content that was pushed with short or no testing resulted in more bugs and exploits. It was a vicious cycle that forced them to go free to play because their subscriber base pretty much disappeared.

5 Endureil Members 21 posts 880 battles Report post #7 Posted July 27, 2015 I would like some variety, the main problem is I feel like every tier up from 5 on has been a DOWN grade. Why a down grade because The Tier 5, 6, 7 all use the same guns with the same number of guns. This means your range and damage is static across 3 tiers. The down grade comes in the form of each tier up you get Slower, less maneuverable and your spot distance goes up, add to that that your torp damage stays the same since Tier 4. The only torp damage upgrades result in less range. I had a blast in the Clemson, the Nicky was a good boat, Farragut was pretty much a Nicky with more HP so pretty much felt like the same. The wall I have hit is the Mahan, It is significantly slower and less maneuverable then the Faragut with the same guns and AA and an extra KM of spotting distance. It technically has longer torp range with the 6.5k torps but while I think I would love them in the Faragut the range increase is wiped out by the increase visibility. And because of the speed and agility losses I am finding that where I could dance and not die in the Faragut I just get gunned down in the Mahan.
288 SweetRollThief Members 74 posts 10,935 battles Report post #8 Posted August 12, 2015 think of the mahan this way: As a tier 7 you will be facing up to tier ten ships, so the mahan is where a good DD captain can refine skills and become an excellent DD captain. It is a less forgiving ship and it should force you to become even better. I do agree a little bit of variety in the line would be nice, I would LOVE if the higher tier USN DD had an increase to shell velocity as high tier matches are on larger maps and tend to be played at longer distances. Only if you're not any good at the game. I'm no unicum and yet I don't really have that much trouble making credits. That said, it's a LOT easier to do if you have a premium account.
