Finally, A Good Game in my Bogue

and it was still crap lol those DBs are fairly useless, hoping for a DB buff soon.

 

Averaged 1353 damage for those 12 DBs is kinda pointless considering how long they take to get around. I hit 2 torp (messed up and lost most of the squad early on) and still dead 4k damage a hit...

 

maybe if they where just faster, faster loading, faster flight, faster dropping of the bombs, id be ok with them but right now they are a serious downgrade over TBs

 

that doesnt include being lucky if the enemy doesnt bring any kind of AA as these things drop like flies

It's not bad, it does its job well which is AA but doesn't get rewarded for helping the team.  And it's strike package is lack luster due to DBs being obsolete compared to TBs

i love using the Flight control mk3, 2 AA planes and 1 Tb for annoying DDs. AA planes will rule the skies vs anything except maybe an Independence

I thought the only options on the Bogue were 1/0/1, 0/1/2 and 2/1/0? I don't recall a 2/0/1

I just got my Bogue, and mod 3 is 2 fighters and 1 dive bomber.

 

Kind of dumb choices, to get a TB I either have to go with 1 fighter or with 2 dive bombers.  Why cant there be an option with 1 of each kind?

Really, DBs should be almost immune to AA because of thier speed and trajectory coming out of the sky almost straight down. But nope, instead they die just as easily as anything else., and do no damage to boot.

So I just got the Bogue, and Dive Bombers are absolutely useless.  Not only do they miss a lot, but by the time they get to their drop zone half of them have already been killed by AA guns on the target ship so they don't even make a full attack.

 

What a useless ship.  They need to just get rid of dive bombers and make them torpedo bombers, and then balance out the various loadouts so that USN and IJN are balanced.

I'm glad you finally got the Bogue in a good game, its quite hard to do with both MM, teams, and the general lack-luster nature of the ship.

The Bogue is pretty nice.  Use one DB to make them burn their repair, then hit them with the other DB and TB.

 

Also, its AA is better than Independence.

I would almost switch to the full Bomber loadout just from seeing a score like that.

I really don't get the hate for the bogue. No it's not the greatest cv or even among the best (looking at you ijn( but it's certainly possible to consistently do well in it.

 

These are my two most recent games and even when you lose you can get a decent amount of exp

 

No you don't get as much exp as ijn cvs but I expect low tier ijn strike loadouts will be nerfed at some point and their exp will drop as mm becomes more balanced and you have less completely unopposed games.

 

The only problem I have with playing american cvs is you can't solo half their team with fires and flooding like ijn cvs can which is why my win rate on them is nearly 20% lower. In my opinion 1/1/0 is the best setup since I'd rather have a fighter than 2 dbs and 1 tb over an extra fighter. You just need to abuse the imbalanced spread on american tbs to go after destroyers and cruiser instead of bb's you don't have the damage to kill. Both first bloods in the two games above were on the first cl/dd I found at the start of the game.

 

Keep in mind at t5 1) people can't dodge to save their own lives 2) ships aa is still terrible and 3) other cv's you come across likely have no idea how to play.

 

I'm actually enjoying usn cv's more than I thought I would. You get less exp and have to make every tb run count but if you're good at dropping you can land 5-6 torps on bbs and 3-4 on cruisers where as on ijn cvs it really doesn't matter too much since you have more squadrons and they have to pretty much let you kill them to get more than 2 torpedo hits per squadron.
