WoWS vs WoT Research Comparision

I've been seeing it thrown around that there is a great disparity between WoWS and WoT in terms of how much ships cost to unlock and purchase. While we are definitely making more credits to compensate for this, many people have been talking about the XP gains not matching up. So I decided to take a look.

 

In this post we will compare the IJN BB line against the Russian IS line's research costs.

 

A few rules:

• Any module that can be unlocked on a prior tank/ship(not a factor yet) is only applied to its first appearance
• First calculated is the XP required to grind straight to the next tier (only necessary modules and next tank/ship)
• Second is the supplementary research total (engines, alternate guns, etc)
• Last is the total research including the next tier unlock
• Table starts at the Kongo as WoWS won't let me see the research cost for unlocked stuff :/

Anyway, this shows us that the XP requirements between WoWS and WoT are very similar. Only the T10 cost significantly more at a ~70k increase. I think we are forgetting how many additional unlocks that WoT has as compared to WoWS. We have to grind larger amounts of XP at once as opposed to lots of smaller jumps.

Different lines have different XP costs. One tank line might cost 30k XP and another might cost 38k at the same tier.

Naturally, but there are still fairly close. This comparison was merely to show that WoWS doesn't have a vastly inflated economy, at least as far as research is involved

The battleship line is the one that costs the most. I did a check of what I could access with my free XP, and while I could reach T8 in a carrier, the DDs, and the IJN cruiser line, I could only reach T7 in the BB lines. I don't know why the BBs require a bit more XP than the other lines given how they compare to the other lines, but if you want to reach a DD, CA, or CV, it'll be about the same.
