is it me or are the jap dds guns very hard to use? they seem s to arc very high compared to us dds. i hardly even use them, they turn very slow too. only at the tier 4 now and have it fully upgraded but so far unimpressed. heard the tier 5 is where its at.

Japanese ("Jap" is considered a derogatory term, just so you know) destroyers have garbage guns anyways. The torpedoes are what make up for it.

Its the difference between the ships design and play styles. IJN DDs are cap ship killers, to support their primary purpose of seek and destroy operations. They have great conceal-ability and awesome torps, combined with good maneuverability and speed. IJN DDs weakness are crappy guns and crap AA. USN DDs are designed as fleet escorts, to support their primary purpose of guarding the fleet they are given great guns and AA, combined with good speed and maneuverability. USN DDs weakness are crappy torps as they spent all the space on gun turrets and a much higher visibility because the hulls were built to support gunnery so they are much higher in the water.

IJN DDs are wolves looking for fat tasty sheep in the form of BBs and CVs.

USN DDs are wolf hounds looking for nice tasty wolves in the form of enemy DDs and providing AA support.

I use the VI IJN DD, the Mutsuki, just like an USN DD, in an escort roll.  The guns are no good, super slow reload and traverse, but the AA is okay for an IJN DD....and the torps work well for area denial when guarding BB's and CV's.  I disagree, in that the shell arc seems low to me.  Maybe the reason it seems that way to me is a function of their short range.

It is the muzzle velocity of the different gun types...    just check your flight times and use the proper firing solution.
