question on AA range upgrade

so guys since dp guns count as surface and anti air i have this simple yet complex question.

 

does the aa upgrade affect the secondary guns range when they are shooting at planes and not their range when engaging surface targets?

 

or do you need the secondary accuracy and range upgrade to also affect the dp guns AA ranges?

The first one.

AA range upgrades only affect the anti-air range.

You need the advanced fire training to increase DP gun ranges for surface.

2 parts to answer.  Ship upgrades only increase what parts they say they increase.

 

Commander skills which increase AA range and damage also increase any gun or cannon on a ship that is 155mm in diameter or smaller, by the set amount.

So the commander skill can increase main, secondary and AA biased on the wording, and as long as the gun is that size or smaller.

i thought so  as the dp guns dont track on aa targets and only surface targets i sensed they were a separate system in the client.

 

but better to ask then assume and make an [edited]of myself to some teammates down the road.

except  dp guns are counted as secondaries and aa in the card and in usage so i had to ask as i cant verify it verywell from my current gamut of matches

 

 

with wargaming that aa range upgrade could conceivably been only for my boforz and 20mm guns and left out my 5 inchers

Yup, Cleveland can fire up to 17.5 km with the Advanced Fire Training perk. However, hitting anything that even changes course slightly at that range is problematic due to the very long shell flight time.

Yup. I've been accused of hacking several times from players who thought they were safe from my Atlanta. It now shoots out to 13.3k.

 

The 7k AA range is nice too.

Yeah, back in the day of CBT I stacked range increasing mods and perks on my Fletcher captain.  Think I got the gun range to 15km but it also had a shell hangtime of 15s which wasn't very useful in trying to hit at that range.

Those 5in/38s aren't the best long range guns
