As far as I can tell it's made entirely of wood with a few nails here and there. He picked this up just after the war was over. It's a great piece little piece of history and I thought I would share it with you guys!

There's a small sign on the bottom right that says Daimaru which is some sort of dempartment store in Japan. They must have had a bunch of these at one time but I'd never seen anything like it until my neighbor showed this one to me.

He was quick with a gun and quicker with his wit. He could crack a joke on a moments notice. He always teased me for wanting to join the Marines though. He'd say,"Well we'd show up, kill everybody, blow everything up, then the Marines come in and take all the credit." He saw some terrible stuff at Luzon and Leyte but he always managed to tell some great stories even if it cost him a few tears.

You should think about picking one up to protect it. =) Indeed, if you wish to keep it, of which you do, it will be needed to protect it for long periods of time.
