It'll probably be similar to the Taihou and Hakuryu being handed out before they were added to the tech tree. I expect random people to get them.

I wonder why two Omaha class cruisers?  I am looking forward to the Mikasa for the cool factor.

Why would anyone spend money on ships when the game is so freaking broken.

They should spend more time fixing the game than releasing ships.

why is it broken?

i dont get the 2 omaha's? they are identical no? and basically the same as the current omaha?

Source? Also, the Mikasa was not a Formidable-class battleship and the Tachibana we had in-game was a Sakura-class destroyer launched in 1912.

It's like the other game and Russian aircraft variants.  We've got a U.S. Omaha, the Murmansk, and now 2 more of them.

Why 2 IJN destroyers though?  I'd have expected at least another IJN cruiser that could potentially replace Furutaka or Yubari.

How do the Marblehead and Cinicinnati differ from other Omaha class cruisers?  Are they two alternatives for permanent changes  to the overall Omaha class?  I don't recall either of these two ships significantly different than other ships of the class.  I would love to see the Brooklyn class, or the two-ship St Louis class built between the Brooklyns and the Clevelands, Or even better the little known Worcester class light cruisers that weren't commissioned until after the war, The light cruiser companions of the Des Moines.

Holy crap the ROF on those twelve 6-inch/47 cal guns...12 rounds per minute per gun.  Another flamethrower at sea...

Those two IJN DDs are strange choices. They were not the main fleet destroyers but slower, less equipped ones for escorting purpose (equivalent to USN DEs of WWII). Which tiers do WG put them? Are we going to have those as tier 1 DDs?

I doubt they would put any DD at tier 1 but maybe this will be another line of DD, also I think the Russian cruisers will start off the Russian tier 1 and tier 2 cruisers

IIRC tachibana is the Sakura class version (inless that changed from back in alpha)

My guess is that they are looking to buff the Omaha and want to test which of the two options work better.

does the omaha really need buffing? its one of my favorite ships and does serious work

I think that Tachibana in the previous tier 2 ship, either way they sounds like tier 4 at most.

Seriously? That ship... buffed? I... just no.

I'm averaging 46 000 damage and 1 700 XP per battle in that thing. That's a 30% boost in performance from my regular stats. That ship is basically the mother of all stat-padding ships.

I don't know about buffing but maybe offering another Omaha as a premium and wanting to figure out which version is the most popular or performs/is balanced the best.  Keep in mind that they were expecting the Murmansk to be one of their go too premiums and the Humble bundle thing gave out a ton of them for virtually free.  Maybe they are looking for a version that people will spend money on.  I know if it is good enough or different enough, I might be convince to pick up another Omaha premium just because my Murmansk it such a great little ship.

Well, Murmansk is an Omaha C. The Omaha B has two extra guns and twice the torpedo launchers, in exchange for half the AA. On top of that, the Murmansk comes with a spotter plane whereas the tech tree Omaha comes with a catapult fighter. There's definitely a niche for heavier armament and a fighter instead of the AA and scout. Heck, take the plane away altogether, leave two launchers off of the B hull and give it two more knots of speed.
