This video also guides you through the different settings that you would find beneficial while watching your/others' replays. Watch the video completely to remove any & all doubts. If you still have doubts after watching, post in the comment section below(in youtube) & i will be in touch with you promptly. Thank you in advance. See you on the high-seas.

Why don't the devs just add a replay button?

Probably they will. Soon enough. But you must also understand that this is still Beta stage(even though OPEN). I think after analysis of game performance, integrity etc. They will add the button in due course of time. Till then this should help people. :)

Finally, somebody who isn't Jingles took the liberty of knowing how and doing it. +1

1. Close the game client.

2. Backup the "preferences.xml" file located in the game folder. You may wish to save this backup copy in a separate folder.

3. Open the original (not backup) "preferences.xml" file using a text editor like Notepad.

4. Scroll to the bottom until you see the following lines:

 </scriptsPreferences>
    <consoleHistory />
</root>

5. Paste two new lines before the </scriptsPreferences> line:

<isReplayEnabled> true </isReplayEnabled>
<ReplayCameraUpdate> 30 </ReplayCameraUpdate>

6. It should now look like this:

<isReplayEnabled> true </isReplayEnabled>
       <ReplayCameraUpdate> 30 </ReplayCameraUpdate>
 </scriptsPreferences>
    <consoleHistory />
</root>

7. Save the file and launch the game client.

8. Enjoy the game!

9. All of the replays will be stored at the "..\replays" folder, which will be automatically created inside the game folder.

10. To launch a replay, close the game client first.

11. After closing the game, drag and drop the "*.wowsreplay" file to WorldOfWarships.exe, or associate the .wowsreplay file extention with the game executable.

12. Every battle generates a separate replay file. Port cannot be recorded.

13. *.wowsreplay files can only be played with the same client version. Replays may not work properly with newer version of the game client.

Replay controls:

'PageUp' 'PageDown' for playback speed control
'Home' for normal speed
'End' for pause (which is actually x100 slower speed)
'LMB' for toggling camera direction between 'free' and 'recorded'. When in this mode you can activate a roaming cam with 'Ctrl+R+Shift+Backspace'. Pan camera with arrow keys, zoom with scroll wheel.
'>' '<' for fast-forward & rewind (can be used together with 'Ctrl')

You should be able to directly attach *.wowsreplay files to your forum posts through the "Attach Files" function, otherwise you can place the file in a *.zip. Looking forward to seeing your replays, Captains!

This is in Celticdemolitions post.

I have noticed in version 5.2.3 my replay function no longer seems to work. When I go into the preferences.XML file the two lines required to activate replays are missing even though they were there before.

Worse than that, when I make the changes to preferences.xml, run WOWS, and then recheck the preferences.xml file the changes are gone. I've repeated this a number of times with the same result. Obviously WOWS support wont help because officially the replay function is not supported. Has this happened to anyone else?

Okay, the following is an excerpt from an ongoing ticket that started out simply as a request to obtain an Achievement which I have repeatedly earned but never received.  This has gotten ridiculous:

"The reason I dislike long lists of instructions on how to fix something that developers should have already fixed, is that the writers almost always assume I already know how to do the task at hand.

Examples:

'Backup the "preferences.xml" file located in the game folder.'

First, "game folder" should be a link which actually takes me where I need to go, and not just assume I know how to get there.  To paraphrase at least one other gamer in your forum, what are the exact keystrokes I need to type in order to accomplish this?  Hopefully, when I get to the 'game folder,' the rest of the instructions will be much more intuitive.  But as was taught in high school Health Class, "Hope is not a method."  I admit to being ignorant, but I'm just here to have fun playing a game, not to perform unpaid programming that should have and could have been done over a year ago.  You're expecting me to jump through a series of user-unfriendly hoops just to provide you with evidence of a glitch I've tried to report.  This just isn't right.  With all your frequent updates, there's absolutely no excuse for your programmers to have not read tickets and forum posts such as this in order to fix problems.  So I ask again, HOW do I 'Enable Replays,' in English?  I found one ESL video claiming how 'easy' it is to do this.  It's nearly 25 minutes long, it's nearly impossible to understand the speaker, the text/graphics are too small to see, and when you switch to fullscreen, the images are then too blurry to make out.  It shouldn't take 25 minutes to explain something that should be enabled by one or two mouse clicks.  Thanks."

LOL!  Here's the latest unhelpful message from WG:

"Greetings Wingslinger,

Thank you for getting back to us. We appreciate your time and patience.

I understand where you are coming from Captain. I'm not a tech savvy as well and I know how it feels to get confuse out of these instruction.

We apologize that there is no easy way or a short cut to get those replays enabled. But once enable, it will be easy for you the next time around.

Please note that the replay is important in our investigation as this will get us close to a resolution.

We look forward to your response and assisting you in the future!

Have a wonderful day ahead!

Best Regards,

Amar Tibs"

Anybody else out there getting this quality of 'help' from WG on tickets?  Or am I the lucky one?

The year is 2020. The Russian excuses for humans have still not created a playback button and now I find my old Windows 7 computer refusing to play back anyway. So fug it all with replays and anything else that the grand geniuses of paranoia can't simplify.
