Fire will do that. Your ship has a health bar. If your health bar is depleted your ship is combat ineffective. It's no different than shooting the commanders cupola five times and killing a Tank. That's how this game works. It doesn't matter if it will not melt steel beams. Fire being a completely too common occurrence for something that can devastate your ship. Apparently 1 fire can take off 40% of your health. You used your repair already to fix that engine, or the previous 3 fires? Well you are sol, if you are lit up again (entirely too likely given the amount of spam) too bad, you can kiss at least 40% of your HP goodbye because of something that takes no skill and is easily spammable. Yes WoT has fire and when not extinguished they can be very deadly, but they are much less common, you can only have one at a time, and as they burn their damage tick gets smaller and smaller.
