Narrator: This thread brought to you today by Manual Drop Carrier Balm, apply two handfuls to your Carrier every day for that full, beautiful looking experience gain. By Wargaming

Narrator: Hi there Jimmy!

Jimmy: God damn mother [edited]son of a [edited]piece of crapcheating bastards!

Narrator: Whoa whoa whoa there Jimmy. What's got your jimmies all rustled up.

Jimmy: It's those gosh darn torpedo's launched by destroyers. I keep dieing to them in my Battleship.

Narrator: They can be quite a handful. How about we teach you how to handle them.

Jimmy: Can't we just make them easier so I don't have to learn?

Narrator: Have you ever considered a job as a Educational Supervisor?

Jimmy: Think I have a chance?

Narrator: With an attitude like that, absolutely. However I think it would be better to learn.

Jimmy: I guess if we have too...

Narrator: That's the spirit Jimmy.

Otakuben: Hi there Jimmy. I hear you are having problems with Destroyer Torpedoes.

Jimmy: Yeah, they are really tough to avoid and I don't even know where they are coming from half the time.

Otakuben: Well first you need to know two important things. There are two Nations of Destroyers. Japanese and American.

Jimmy: What's the difference?

Otakuben: Well Japanese Destroyers are stealthy and can launch Torpedoes without being seen from great distances. American Destroyers are easier to spot and their torpedoes have a much shorter range. That means they have to resort to ambush attacks in order to get hits.

Jimmy: Doesn't that mean Japanese Destroyer's are easier to play than American?

Otakuben: Well yes and no. They both have their up and down sides. Lets start with Japanese destroyers.

Otakuben: You see Japanese destroyers are stealthy, but destroyers in general are weak. So they need to fire from cover or unspotted so they don't die right away. So they extra long range torpedoes that can fire 7, 10, 15, even 20 km away.

Jimmy: That's really far!

Otakuben: It is. However most of their long range torpedoes are slow and easier to spot. This gives you more time to react.

Jimmy: But most of the time I'm occupied with fighting people and don't notice torpedoes until I hear the ship alarm.

Otakuben: Well then you have to work on your situational awareness?

Jimmy: What's that?

Otakuben: Well you know every game you find yourself in the middle of enemy ships with no help, being bombarded from every side, while you flood, burn, lose modules, have your turrets destroyed, and are generally pummeled to a pulp?

Jimmy: Yeah

Otakuben: It's the opposite of that.

Jimmy: So you mean be better.

Otakuben: Exactly

Jimmy: So what do I do for these specific torpedoes?

Otakuben: Well since they are launched at long ranges you can just turn slightly, go a little slower, or look around after each shot.

Jimmy: But how can I do that look at porn at the same time?

Otakuben: Oh you little rascal, you'll find a way.

Jimmy: So what about US destroyers.

Otakuben: Well these are a little tricky. You see, since they have such short range they need to be really close to launch. As a result they are more prone to your attacks. The best way is to avoid being really close to islands and have an escort by you.

Jimmy: But there are islands everywhere! How can I avoid them and still play well in my Battleship.

Otakuben: And there is a word for that we adults use.

Jimmy: What's that?

Otakuben: Masochism.

Otakuben: But like I said before you can have an escort.

Jimmy: But no one wants to escort me!

Otakuben: Have you asked?

Jimmy: Shouldn't they know that's their job?

Otakuben: Obviously, but it's still nice to ask.

Jimmy: So what do I do then if they don't want to escort me?

Otakuben: Well you can always use your own guns to hurt them and ever ctrl+right click to have your smaller guns specifically target them.

Jimmy: But my guns are awful and can't hit the broadside of a barn!

Otakuben: I never said it was a viable option just an alternative.

Jimmy: I don't know about this, it seems like too much to learn and do.

Narrator: Well Jimmy, if you try really hard, do your best, and keep at it and still die you may need to do something else. Like play a class that actually matter to the company.

Jimmy: Like Cruisers?

Narrator: Like Cruisers. I hope this helped Jimmy. Remember to put that situational awareness to good use and keep at it and maybe one day you'll get those destroyers.

Jimmy: Maybe even my Dad will talk to me again.

Narrator: Lets keep it realistic Jimmy.
