Just curious if it's been mentioned as coming in future updates? Not so sure limited main shells would make sense, but torps would be interesting. Could even put in maps with supply points at the flags where DDs could rearm torps... or am I all wet?

Even if it does comes, it wouldn't matter for main guns simply because you usually have at least 100 rounds per gun.

They said due to how much the ships fire, limited ammo will not happen. If you watch when you enter your port after battle, part of your repairs is ammo and resupply

I am very doubtful. Given how bad a lot of people are at leading, you would constantly find yourself in games where Cruisers and DD waste all their ammo early and have floating targets taking up space on your team. Only BB would still have ammo because they take longer to reload.

Doubtful. These ships carried large quantities of amunition for long voyages. A 20 minute surface battle will come nowhere close to depleting the ships supply of amunition.

 

Off the top of my head I can only think of one time of a ship running out of amunition in battle and that was only with anti-aircraft amunition.

I doubt it will.  Some ships (particularly the more advanced cruisers) with smaller calibre weapons could carry close to 1000 rounds per gun -- more than enough to get through 20 minutes of continous firing.

I agree that for guns it makes little sense, but torps I think it does - people just spam them way too much in the game I think, including me!

Considering that a Destroyer, like a Fletcher-class, takes 1 hour of constant firing to empty out all 600 rounds of ammunition for the main guns and we only have 20 min matches it would be physically impossible for limited ammo to work with main guns.

 

It would only work with torpedos, since the majority of destroyers carried only 1 salvo per launcher, or 2 salvos per launcher. Which that would mean each miss would be more punishing for a Destroyer then each miss does for a Battleship.

They would have to completely rebalanced DDs. Japanese DDs would be unplayable.

For those who are curious: Bismarck, since it's so bloody famous.

 

8x 38cm guns (Barrel life 200-300 rounds)

353 based fused AP shells

338 base fused HE shells

313 nose fused HE shells

803.2 Metric Tons of shells, 212.8 metric tons of propellant

1004 total shells or 125/gun

38-50 minutes of continuous fire

 

 

12x 15cm guns (Barrel Life 2500 rounds)

622 AP shells

666 HE shells

58.3 metric tons of shells and 30.3 metric tons of propellant.

1288 total shells or 107/gun.

26 minutes of continuous fire

 

16x 10.5cm guns

103.1 metric tons of shells

6825 total shells or 426/gun

23.7 minutes of continuous fire

 

16x 3.7cm guns

25.4 metric tons of ammunition

34100 projectiles or 2131/gun

26.6 minutes of continuous fire

 

18x 2cm guns (The 10 single MG C/30s and the 2 quad C/38s)

5.8 metric tons of ammunition

44000 projectiles or 2444/gun

12.2 minutes of continuous fire

 

Barrel temperature would have a higher priority then ammunition levels, given our current time limits for matches.

They better fix the lag and desync issues before introducing limited ammo.


Most of the shots are missed because the ships are no where they are rendered.
