There is all kinds of information in the forums that can help you but you also just need to get in and play some games, then evaluate how you did and how you might improve (this includes things such as trying new tactics and searching the forums for specific info on areas troubling you). But most of all .... it just takes a bit of experience (like a few hundred games and even then, you'll still improve)

I'd go with the other players and suggest a cruiser line. They're somewhat like the 'all-rounders' in terms of firepower, mobility, roles etc. Just a few general tips: Stick with team-mates Use AP against battleships Use HE against destroyers and carriers Be aware of your surroundings and be careful of where/when you launch torpedoes Good luck and I hope to see you around!
855 Carrier_Taiyo Beta Testers 2,420 posts 1,809 battles Report post #6 Posted July 8, 2015 Also, play co op battles until you feel confident. Co op battles do not count against your win rate, and are a good way to get the hang of the game, how to aim, etc.

A lot of good info. IChase has some really good general gameplay guides. (HE vs AP, Captain Skills) The general guides are cataloged under the ship trees & the ship guides are located under the individual ships.

Co op battles do not count against your win rate, and are a good way to get the hang of the game, how to aim, etc. so much this. while the game controls are easy getting the hang of managing things takes time. playing against bots until comfortable with managing firing, tracking and maneuvering all at once is a good idea. secondly is to get a hang of the game modes. last night on more than one occasion i watched games go into the toilet because players didnt understand that sometimes all you have to do is survive until the counter reaches 1000...infuriating. other than that, use AP against similar targets as yourself and HE against everything else. never go it alone and support your teammates, and never give the enemy a nice easy broadside to fire at. 5,106 [ERN] MajorRenegade Alpha Tester, Alpha Tester, In AlfaTesters, Beta Testers 10,906 posts 4,896 battles Report post #15 Posted July 8, 2015 Here the most useful tip. Never ever stop moving to shoot at the enemy. A non moving ship is an dead ship. Sure you can slow down and speed back up, but never stop. By slowing down and speeding up can throw off the enemy aim when they have to keep guessing how fast you're going.

I'm wondering if any of you guys have any advice of which line to go through that is the most noob friendly? Any tips are appreciated! Thank you! Welcome to World of Warships! My advice is to constantly keep moving, a moving target is a hard target. Also practice your leading shots in the co-op mode against bots, get a knack for how far ahead you should be aiming before firing off those volleys.
39 [RMOVE] Capt_Barkhorn Alpha Tester 815 posts 6,728 battles Report post #20 Posted July 9, 2015 Aim for about midship. This is usually under the smoke stacks and right where the citadel is. This especially goes for firing AP at more lightly armored cruisers. Fire HE at superstructure like the bridge, aft bridge(if applicable), stacks, etc.
0 Pikachu76 Members 4 posts 67 battles Report post #21 Posted July 9, 2015 I'm on the IJN cruiser Tenyru and I'm doing pretty good. When do I use AP or HE? I've been basically using HE only as it almost always does more damage.
3,709 Quaffer Alpha Tester, Alpha Tester 6,051 posts Report post #22 Posted July 9, 2015 Always use HE on carriers until they start to burn. They can't launch planes when they are on fire. I usually switch to AP once I have a fire going. Same drill with battleships and cruisers. Destroyers HE all of the time. You are going to hear a lot of opinions about this. They change the AP and HE characteristics almost every other patch. See what works best for you but don't be unwilling to switch when the latest updates come out. BATTLESHIPS : fire HE @ destryoers. AP @ everything else. Cruisers under tier 3 fire AP at everything BUT destroyers, use HE only. Cruisers above tier 3, fire AP at cruisers and carriers. He at everything else. Destroyers below tier 4, fire AP at anything but a Battleship. Fire HE @ battleships. Destroyers from tier 4 & up: HE at battleships, carriers to stop planes from launching & destroyers. AP @ cruisers and citadels on Carriers. ...... Final note, tier 1 & 2 totally wrecking firing nothing but AP.
