I'm just getting into battleships and I'm sure this has been addressed but I don't see it, so sorry and point me to the thread if it's there. What would be the first 3-4 upgrades you'd do for a battleship and it which order?

I always upgrade the main guns. To me, reload and turn rate are very important as is distance. Next would be putting out fires or stopping flooding.

 

The level 1 Main Guns

The level 2 Main Guns

Fire/Flood Repair

Working towards increased torpedo acquisition myself. It pays, especially with lower tier and thus slower BBs, to have an extra heads up with torps. I plan on grinding pretty slowly through the Kawachi and Myogi, so the gun upgrades will be next.

I'll break it down for you:

 

Battleships are king of artillery, they have the biggest guns and the longest range on those guns. So you want to upgrade anything that has to do with the main guns.

 

Ship Upgrades:

Under the modules tab

- Always upgrade the hull upgrades first as they give you more health, possibly more guns, more AA guns

- Upgrade your main guns ......... better accuracy, better rate of fire

- Upgrade Range Finders......... these give your guns improved shooting range

- Upgrade propulsion ..... makes your ship go faster

 

Upgrades below the modules and beside the consumables tab

- depending on the ship you can have up to 6 slots to add equipment

- If your steering is weak (US BB's) then upgrade it @level 1

- Main battery upgrades are good & bad so read what they are... there is one that sounds good inthat it increases your guns range..but the side effect is that they are less accurate

- Damage Control 1 is a waste but mod 2 is awesome

- Main Battery mod 1 is good since that is your main weapon and fixing it asap is a priority

 

There are also Commander Skills that also upgrade your ship

- Don't do any aircraft upgrades

- level 1 pick basic survivability under ship survivability

- level 2 pick aiming expert

- level 3 pick vigilance & high alert

- level 4 pick advance firing training

- level 5 pick jack of all trades, concealment, preventative maintenance

Just a little thing I noticed in the battleship upgrades:

 main battery upgrade 2 increases the reload time and turn time instead of decreasing the time (+10% each).

 Main battery mod 3 (if available to select) is the one that will decrease the aiming/reload time.

 

Don't know if this was a bug/oversight, or planned this way...
