2 OtisDriftwood Beta Testers 18 posts 623 battles Report post #1 Posted June 1, 2015 I'm guessing/hoping the MM is set "wide open" for the purposes of BETA; so I wanted to share my perspective on my observations on two points. CV Tier Balance 1 CV IX =/= CV VII + CV VII An Essex (IX) =/= a Hiryu (VII) plus a Ranger (VII) First off the Essex played really well and tactically our team didn't (including me). That being said, even though I achieved a clear skys award (35 planes) the Essex bombed me out of the battle and the Hiryu after me. I just couldn't keep my fighters up for wave after wave -- I'm set up for max fighters -- two fighter squads and two bomber squads. The map was one of the smaller ones and an escape route was not really available, but this was like bringing a knife to a gunfight. BB's are overvalued in MM I forget the name of the map but it has the capping points A, B, C, D. I don't recall the exact makeup of both sides but we had top tier BB North Car (VIII) along with 4 other BB's (5 BB total); their side did not have VIII, but had 2 or 3 BBs, but were also compensated with 3 or 4 extra ships (DD's and Cruisers). So on a map that values multiple sites of capping, we get the dinosaur slow BB's, who predictably go in a "ball of fail" together and camp on A while the rest of us fight for the rest of the map against more DD's and Cruisers. Arguably this might be as much as tactics (or lack there-of) but both sides were laughing in chat at the all too predictable BB's that do the same thing game after game. I would add though that multiple cap points and having more ships, speedy ships is a disadvantage to the useless BB's.

That was high number I saw yesterday, a Sunday further with introduction of the new BB line, it appears that 60% of que is BB's. So with everything limited, why the bashing? This continuous moaning and bantering is really getting old. We are beta testers, sad part is, it appears that the players complain like we have a que of 20k like we do on WOT, The whining is bringing down the enjoyment of being one of the Beta testers.

Basher? whiner?...alrighty then. Um...for the record, it's not like I ranted that I wasn't going to play anymore, or I hated MM, or the developers are *&**&,, yada yada yada. Your definition of rant & bashing is different than mine. I guess any comments about MM are read as rants & whining by some folks. I was trying to be specific, in the interest of providing BETA feedback. I said upfront that I knew this was BETA, and in the eventual deployment, I'm assuming what's learned in BETA will be used towards that end. I'm guessing probably without much or any consideration for the forum comments but just based on the collected data. I had the initial assumption when I started BETA, one should expect a +/- 2 tier spread -- if that's still a goal for deployment I don't think it works well for CV's. For what I have seen the +/- 2 for BB's, Cruisers, and DD's not as bad IMO especially in the noise of battle mix. The other point I wanted to make is that BB's seem like a handicap in general IMO, and in some maps can be a major handicap where there are multiple capping points. Maybe there's something inherently bad about BB's tactically not wanting to go near faster cruisers and DD's but "the ball of fail" sure seems common. I'm not looking or want a mirrored image of a MM matchup; that would be boring but I do think there needs to be some eventual consideration of match up weaknesses -- in the open deployment. 1ArmedBandit .."Lighten up, Francis"

He was doing hardcore manual drops that armed right as they touched your ship and there was nothing to do. He got 5 kills in every game we saw him in (as in he was on the other team) Between him and fletchers I never even saw, I barely fired my guns before I died. He tore apart our Sho's Aircraft very quickly, and his friend didn't help matters for us. Honestly, we should have split the Essexes between the two teams, It doesn't make sense to have things THAT unbalanced. We got screwed hard.
