I'm new to the game and wanted to say hi, been enjoying the game so far, was wondering if anyone has heard if they plan on adding the Uss Arizona to the tech tree, maybe as a premium ship.

Yeah I heard it will be Tier six in the second BB tech tree line. :great:

if that's the case you wont see it until after final launch. WG stated only one tree of each class will be in testing for now.

Could a moderator please move this thread over to discussion.  I don't believe it is a guide.

If the Arizona was not a premium I would be surprised.  Most iconic WWII BB that never fought in WWII.

Indeed, it wouldn't be at all surprising to see Wargaming doing such a thing to such a Famous Ship.

i just keep checking the forum expecting to see a post by Gunlion stating that the Arizona is now for sale in the gift shop........

Drive a New Mexico and imagine it has the bow of the New York..

Poof!  You are now driving a Pennsylvania/Arizona class BB.

There wasn't much difference (aside from what was in the turrets, the barbette were the same), amongst the US BBs from Penn to Colorado.  There is a reason they are often referred to as "standard battleships".  They probably went with the New Mexico class because of the Clipper Bow (otherwise, pretty much the same as the previous class).

The Arizona (BB-39) did see very limited action in WW2. My novel (BB-39) has a good, historically based, description of that morning. It is available as an ebook, in print, and as an audio book on Amazon.

It did fight, just rather briefly and with great struggle against airplanes.

It fought prior to WWII, we hadn't entered the war yet.

I'd argue that the moment someone shoots at you (and you start shooting back), they entered you into the war (which had already started 8/1/1939 for the rest of the world) irregardless of the official political declaration. A practical outlook (favoring the definition of War) rather then a political one, which is often pointless as it is entirely arbitrary whether military action is authorized or even a declaration issued, the American Civil War was never declared as the Confederacy was never acknowledged as a legitimate sovereignty for example.

Otherwise, the last "war" the USA has been in is WWII according to history since that was the last official declaration.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Declaration_of_war_by_the_United_States#Declarations_of_war

Indeed, the political definition of war is entirely useless for all practical matters of history, as many times US military action has even been authorized by the pentagon for extended usage without even authorization from Congress...

Did you know that Russia and Japan are still technically at war due to a WWII dispute that has yet to be resolved over a wee bit of land in the middle of a bunch of water? They never signed a peace treaty, yet we all know this is merely political stubbornness and historically near-meaningless as they haven't "done" anything to each other for over half a century. (baring shooting a fisherman due to an "accident", hardly a military exercise
