So has I already stated elsewhere in the forums I believe that CV game play isn't really for me, however with the addition of IJN CVs I wanted to take my Independence out for a spin.

 

One of the games that I enjoyed playing was my Independence (in fighter mode) vs. 2 Ryujos (in all attack mode). The reason was that once my opponents realized what they were facing, the game became a cat and mouse game of me protecting our valuable BBs versus them rerouting against less valuable targets and me giving chase.

 

However another game that I played was essentially me taking up a spot and unable to affect the game in any meaningful way and not being able to do anything about it. I faced in my Independence another CV player in his Ranger. The problem wasn't that were both in fighter mode, it was basically his 1 tier higher fighters made mincemeat of mine,. I'm not talking 1 vs 1 either at 1 point I had 2 groups of mine vs 1 of his and I lost both of mine vs 2 kills. Once that happened he basically kept me shut down by having a fighter group near my carrier and even managed to kill my fighters circling my carrier with AA protection. Because of the MM and clear advantage of higher tier aircraft vs lower, I'm sure this kind of game will leave a very bad taste in players mouths.

 

One solution to this that I can suggest is have all aircraft not shipsbe of equal tier for any given battle. So in the example above the Ranger would still have 4 flights vs my 3 but at least the aircraft involved would be either Tier 6 or 7. At least lower tier CV players could still contribute in some way. Either that or make sure all CVs in a batlle are all the same tier.

 

Another general suggestion that doesn't solve the situation above but I believe would add to the enjoyment would be to allow CV players to choose their loadouts just prior to the game start or for up to a 1 min. into the game, once they see the composition of the teams in the battle.

This is why you don't have pre ww2 biplanes on a 1943 CV. You should have Wildcats by tier 6 hell even tier 5. Start off with F3F then F2A then F4F then F4U then F6F then F8F

For the millionth time, high fighter load outs are playing to lose, and if you allow carriers to dynamically pick their squadron configs it will only amplify MM mismatches.

 

Fighters need a serious nerf all around and USN CVs brought back to previous status.

Fighters need a serious nerf all around and USN CVs brought back to previous status.

 

Well following this train of thought, you may as well eliminate fighters altogether. But I doubt that WG will do that.

 

I personally think that fighter load outs can add value but there needs to be more value in shooting down enemy planes. Maybe add another option of +2 points per plane shot down and -2 points per lost plane
