so I was just wondering. How many paper ships should the game have in it. I don't really like paper ships my self. I think they should only be used to fill in holes for some trees. Like Germany And Russia. but they should try and keep the number of paper ships in the USN and IJN to a minimum. Britain had a tone of ships so they don't need any ether. I don't plan on keeping any paper ships. Just grind through them till I get what I want. What do you think?

I thought the entire North Korean navy would be paper ships.

The biggest navies to have paper ships will be the following.

Soviet Union - Yeah you're gonna need LOADS of paper/non-existant ships for them.

Germany - Cruisers and carriers

Italy - Carriers and possibly 1 battleship

France - Carriers and a battleship/cruiser

Biggest one though is the Soviet fleet, the Imperial Russian Navy ships only get them so far then its all paper designs.

Well Germany actually has a solid number of real ships up to tier 8...even two of the H-39 series was laid down then scraped...after tier 8 most fleets will have some paper ships even the Brits and Japanese..

That should not take away from the game though, in fact I think it enhances it, because the main reason most of these paper ships were not built was a direct result of the many facets of WW2

Imagine what the German and French Navy would have looked like had WW2 not started until 45... Imagine what the US and Japanese Navy would have looked like had WW2 lasted longer... So far I think the inclusion of many of these "Paper" ships allows for some awesome "What Ifs"

That's actually a reasonable and well thought out response. Get out now!! :)

WG will have to have 'paper ships' to fill holes in some of the tech trees under consideration. There will be no way of getting around this. The Russian tech tree will likely have the most blueprint designs in it to be able to offer a decent developmental tree. Did Russia even have pre WW2 or WW2 era Air Craft Carrier designs?

I, personally, tend to focus on 'famous historical' creations in WoT (not a lot of blueprint types) but one has to research/develop/play some paper constructs to get where one wants to go in the game. This will, undoubtedly, also be true in WoWS.

Hopefully, the number of 'paper ships' in WoWS will be kept to a minimum at start, however, over time as new content is offered there will likely be more paper types. Nature of the WG beast.

heh... It will be interesting to see the Alsace class from the French.... I mean this ship would have been built except for that tiny German occupation...

To get balanced tiers with cohesive lines, every single nation in the game is going to need paper ships.

Its an inescapable fact.

The German battleships through  Tier 1 to 8 are all real historical ships. Ships from tier 9 to 10. did not exist in real life. The Germans however  made plans to make such ships, but the plans was not finalized. They are the H class battleships. The last battleships made for the German navy are the Bismarck class battleship.

The German T9 battleship is the H-39 but can be upgraded with the guns intended for the H-41. T10 is a design thrown together by WG using a German triple 16" turret design they found in Russian archives.
