I will start first. Back in August 2013 I was looking around for a game about ships. I searched for a while then I found world of warships. shortly afterwards I created an account because I was really exited about the game. I learned quickly that the game was still not even in alpha but I still wanted to learn more about the game. I found the pre release wiki which was very informative and hats of to the creator of it. so I was really hoping to get into alpha so I waited a while but then soon realised that I was not going to get in. so started playing world of tanks and then over the course of the majority of 2014 I was inactive. Then in 2015 I found out closed beta had arrived though I was to late to get in the first round. so I waited a month or 2 during which I was an active member and posted often. I did get in and so far I have loved the game. here is a link to the pre release wiki http://wiredstar.com/wowswiki/

I knew this game was around for awhile but read it was only in alpha or had not even gotten there much like yourself. Looked it up a couple months ago there it was, closed beta! Signed-up but said screw it, I'm not waiting and I hung around on Twitch. It paid off and I thank the streamer a lot and here we are.

I was planning on waiting for OBT like a lot of other players, but when the pre-order ships came out I bought them for the -15% discount. Two days later I got CBT access and I've been playing/testing and having a blast since.

Short version being when I downloaded tanks back in the day they had the visual pic of 3 different games as one. This was before WarThunder(beta tester here), and also before Warplanes. Prior to that... seek 1st sentence as my online playing extends back to Red Baron 2.
555 pappina Alpha Tester 925 posts 872 battles Report post #6 Posted May 14, 2015 Basically, all that happened was that I had stumbled upon the WoWS website (this was actually before they had set up a forum) and kept a tab on it. Would check in every once in a while to see that anything changed. That's basically it.... Sorry for not having some amazing story of adventure, and romance. 1 K1OXD Beta Testers 9 posts 119 battles Report post #16 Posted May 14, 2015 Always loved aeronautical games. Started playing WOWP in July 2013. Noticed the trailer for WOWS which peaked my curiosity. Signed up for Beta but didn't make it. Then saw an ad or notification that new applicants were being accepted, and somehow got in. Been enjoying Ships to some extent but hard to pull away from Planes since my real interest is in the air rather than the water.
5 Xuimma Members 43 posts 37 battles Report post #17 Posted May 14, 2015 (edited) Well my fascination with ships started from the anime *Kancolle* I got into the game the day when the anime aired its first episode. What was nice about the anime/game was that the every ship had a story behind them. I was scouting for warship games on the net, I came across Battlestation *AWESOME GAME* btw then later found world of warships. I wouldv just stuck with [edited]if only it had a decent MM. 17 Zombie_Slayer237 Members 70 posts 651 battles Report post #18 Posted May 14, 2015 (edited) This was a few days after WG introduced the unified accounts. I came across WoWS when I was trying to log in and it showed where WG made accounts unified to two other games. I saw that it had a naval game so I opened a new tab and went to the WoWS website. Every once and a while I would look at the Q and A thread with the developers answering the players questions. What really got me into the game was that France was eventually going to be added and France being one of my favorite navies during WWll, I decided that I would play the game when it would go into OBT. 116 ConquerorSEA_2014 Alpha Tester 645 posts 696 battles Report post #22 Posted May 14, 2015 I heard the first time about this game when I started playing wot in early 2013 and a friend of me told me that wg will makes a plane and a ship game later on.I wasnt very much interested in the development of WoWs untill I read the EU dev blog which made me hooked about the potential of this game in early 2014.I later created EU and NA account to participate in forum activities.I didnt expect to get into alpha test anyway and wanted to wait for asia server to be avalaible after release(I live in Asia hence the SEA part in my name that means South East Asia). And then on one faithfull day after coming home from a month and a half vacation,I discovered I unexpectedly became a NA alpha tester after I became a beta weekend tester in the first BWT.I was very shocked, disbelief and happy&sad.I was very surprised as I didnt post much nor contribute a lot of things.I was happy to be able to get an opportunity of a lifetime to participate in CAT phase and sad due to having crap laptop and internet. After 3 weeks pass by,my family finally get a better net service.I was finally able to participate CAT.It was a huge blast !Beyond my expectation.Altough my fps. werent that great,0-14fps regularly in low setting but still had fun playing it.My fps finally got better after bought a new PC. 432 aethervox Alpha Tester 4,252 posts 9,421 battles Report post #24 Posted May 14, 2015 (edited) I found WoWS by WG highlighting it on their main page. I then looked at it at the online site and at Wiki. Same as others. I would check every once in a while as to its progress and announcements regarding same. The older trailers for the game looked intriguing and, like many, I wondered exactly when WoWS could be played. Sometime in Fall 2014 there was an advertisement to apply for Beta testing. I was lucky to get chosen for the Dec/14 Beta weekend. After playing pretty much continually that weekend I couldn't wait to play WoWS some more. I contributed to the official poll just as soon as I could. I may have also posted my first commentary on the forums. Somehow I missed the second Beta Weekend in Jan/15 (think work intruded). Rather inexplicably, however, I got an invite into Alpha (seemingly out of the blue - think that was in Jan/15). So off I went happily sailing over the High Seas. This thrilled me no end, I can tell you. Perhaps it was something I said on the Forums that got me the invite - maybe I got noticed by a WoWS Grand Poobah? No matter - I'm thrilled to be an Alpha Tester albeit a very late, 'just under the wire' invitee. Being Alpha auto-placed me into CBT. TY WG for inviting me into the pre-launch play testing. So my journey to WoWS is very similar, I'm thinking, to others. Edited May 14, 2015 by aethervox
