Which type of ship interests you most?

Ok, there's already a full thread on the specific ship that people want to play, but what about type? Are you interested in Battleships? Cruisers?

 

So, this isn't about what particular Battleship you want, but the overall types.

 

Carriers:  For the sake of argument, both Fleet Carriers (CV) and Light Carriers (CVL)  Akagi, Enterprise, Shokaku, Independence, Essex....

Battleships: The big hammers.  Dreadnought, Iron Duke, Kaiserin, Bismarck, South Dakota, Iowa, Yamato...

Battlecruisers: The greyhounds.  Invincible, Von Der Tann, Hood, Kongo, Lexington (1920)...

Heavy Cruisers: The workhorses.  Kent, Prinz Eugen, Maya, Pensacola, Boston...

Light Cruisers: Jintsu, Omaha, Cleveland, Brooklyn, Fiji

Destroyers: The Terriers: Fletcher, Z-Class, Tribal Class, Amatsukaze...

Oddball stuff? You want to play the stuff that doesn't quite fit the usual system... the German Panzerschiffe (Graf Spee), or the Alaska class superheavy Cruisers/Cruiser Battleship/Battlecruiser/whatever.

I have a soft spot for the DD Laffey.

 

Cruisers with 5 or more main battery turrets just appeal to me..

 

So Atlanta's, Brooklynns, Mogami's will be my favored ships

Well BB obviously how else will I get to play Lyon and Lion but I'm just as interested in the oddball stuff like the British Large "light" cruiser or hybrid CV Ise 1944 anyone?

I like all the ships listed... but the Iowa Class has had a spacial place in my heart for so long! so i vote Battleships!

God knows it was a good way to get lots of money in Navyfield.  The Atlantas are surprisingly durable too.

To be honest I want them all...

 

But, if I had too choose a pair of types to begin with, it would be Destroyers and Battleships.

 

Destroyers because these are the true workhorses of both the current and old Navies.

 

Battleships because who wouldnt like firing a full broadside of 16" or 18" Naval Rilfes?

 

 

 

Although going a little out of time frame, my favourite ships of all time are the Old Old ships of the Line...

 

Such as the USS Constitution or the HMS Victory. Imagine a full broadside from one of those. 15-20 20 pounders and another 15-25 30 pounders going off at once coupled with the clouds of black smoke from the Gunpowder...

I'm really interested to see what destroyers can bring to the table.

 

I'm honestly expecting the later tier destroyers to be able to make smoke and hide the larger ships behind a smokescrean, have excelent tracking 5" guns to pop planes like zits, deploy early SAM systems to put up an even denser anti air screen, and mount the latest in guided torpdos to make them effective at 10kn+.

Anyway, the more people talk about it, the more interesting carrier combat seems. I am excited to find out just how the whole system works. Along with carriers, Heavy Cruisers are also of particular interest to me. I would also like to try out the destroyer line. Oh, who am I kidding? I want to try out all the ships!

I was a huge battlestations player so I got really into the stop down strategy RTS mode that you could use for commanding units there.  I'm honestly hoping that's how squadron commands will work, that way you an maneuver planes into optimal firing possitions.

ill go US BBs then CVs and CAs then DDs
im not sure ill try US or IJN DDs

Carriers are my primary interest since I'm kind of an aviation nut;  but I can pretty  much guarantee I'll play everything until I settle on something I like.  In World of Tanks it took me months to finally decide I was a medium driver at heart.  Who knows, I may end up being a DD captain.
