Questions on a premium ship

In regards to the premium ships now being offered. Do any of them have the ability to have any upgrades or is it like a premium tank in WoT, where, what you buy is what you get?

I am considering on buying one & trying the closed beta, since it looks like the actual release date might be a ways off. I can just watch so many YouTube videos, without wanting to jump into the action.

I was leaning towards the USS Sims, but jumping into a tier 7 ship as a newbie, might not be fair to fellow teammates.

I thought also of the Yubari, but I have read so much negative feedback, i"m undecided. From what I read the torpedoes have a narrow firing arch. Can this be overcome with practice??

Also in regards to the Yubari, are the AA batteries worth it at tier IV? If anything giving AA support to a battleship or carrier might be worth it but again, I am not sure. Just throwing a thought out there.

If I were to get a premium ship & get into the closed beta, would I be able to obtain a lower tier ship, just to get used to the basics, before going into the premium ship?

Thanks in advance to all who respond.

all of your questions are easily answered by your experience in WoT

imagine you were buying a tank instead

every question is now answered

(people who understand how to use AA love the Yubari)

with the added bonus of the WoWS ship granting you immediate access into closed beta testing

You can mount the consumable upgrades but there are none to research for them. Yubari is an awesome ship and I seldom even fire the torpedoes since I mainly use it for AA for the bigger ships.

Just pick the one you like and dive in.

It is CBT so no worries about stats or anything. Come on in and join in the fun :great:

As previously said it is very similar to WoT. On a note on which you should pick, I really like all three of them. The yubari was surprisingly good to me, the Russian one has a very unique play style, and the sims is just all round fun. Hope you pick the one you like though. See you in the CBT!

Plus you can play against bots at first to get used to the game without worrying about the whole sandbagging your team. You earn XP against bots too since it is Co-OP and you can progress the tree that way if you wish.

(in fact you have to play against bots at first until you rank up)

p.s. i have the Sims and Germy.. whatever it is (tier 5 russian). I love both, i am really in to DDs and Carriers

Like in WoT, Premium ships come fully upgraded with all modifications researched. You can mount equipment (similar to WoT, although the system has been changed), but that's about it.

I quite like the Yubari. Nothing else at it's tier comes even close to the amount of AA that it can throw out, and considering that Tier 4 is also where you start getting Carriers, it can be extremely useful. Hell, even at Tier 5 there are only two ships with more AA than the Yubari. There's a reason why I average 6 planes shot down every match, more than any other cruiser I currently own.

It plays like an escort cruiser, hang around with friendly BBs during the early game providing them with AA cover, harass targets of opportunity with your guns (which have decent range, good RoF and acceptable damage), and then late game go chase down and finish off injured ships.

It gets a bit of hate because it's extremely fragile and the guns are a little underwhelming (at least on paper), but it's also fast, very agile, has the lowest spotting range of any cruiser (9.9 km), and the torpedoes, while situational, can be effective. I just wish it had access to the Defensive Fire ability that T6+ cruisers have (increase AA damage for 30/60 seconds).

Like in World of Tanks, when you first start World of Warships you will have a Tier 1 cruiser for each nation (currently USN and IJN). Progression, especially in those early tiers, is faster than in WoT, so it won't take you very long to get into the middle tiers (although I'm expecting an economy/progression re-work before WoWS goes live).
