When I was a kid, Dad worked for a farmer during the summers. He taught the farmer's own kids (who were a lot older than us) in school and became really good friends with him so we would go out there every Sunday evening and eat popcorn. He had an old wiener dog that would lick us kids to death trying to slurp the butter and salt off our faces. The farmer had served in the Navy during WWII.
