What I found to be impressive is that the guy narrating was actually one of those who dove on the ship and took the photos. He said that the analysis told them more than the histories. You can hardly blame sailors jumping from a sinking ship that's still being shelled for not documenting where each shell hit and when though.

I mentioned USS Hoel.  A Fletcher like USS Johnston, she was also chewed up and sunk in the Battle Off Samar.  She has not yet been found.
