Can you guess what the worst battleship ever designed was before you watch the video?

Here's a tip. Wargaming has already put it in the game. :cap_book:

At least Wargaming wouldn't release an entire line of these turkeys, right?

I'm glad I follow Battleship New Jersey Museum and Drachinifel on youtube.  But nice to know that forum members here are also sharing the entertaining work they do, as well.  :-)

Well, it is fun.  And, because it is related to their "day job", they can justify it for "research purposes", eh?

They do they same thing in WoT, let's take a weapon system that never got past the design or prototype stage and make it into an amazing tank or ship that's way better than real tanks and ships that were actually built:Smile_great:, here's two experts telling you straight out that this is a ridiculous design but hey let's go with it anyway, BTW i have that book that they have there and it's a great book, highly recommended.

Just off the top of my head, there were a couple that flipped upside down as soon as they were launched.  HMS Mary Rose and another was Dutch?

They have a strong claim to the title.

"Flipped" may be the wrong term.  In the event, worst submarines, too.

My guess would be HMS Furious, a ship that could not fire her own 18" guns without damaging itself.

All of Fisher’s Courageous-class “large light cruisers” were very flawed capital ships. There’s a reason they were often derisively referred to as the Outrageous-class.

Are you thinking of the Sweedish Vasa? if so, She didn't flip completely, just went over far enough to let water in the gun ports, she was still upright on the bottom, I believe with the masts out of the water when she was first sunk,

I'd personally add some of the French pre-dreadnoughts, namely some of the 5 Charles-Martels

HMS Benbow. The main guns can only fire 90 rounds before they break XD

They also just released a follow-up video covering one of Gibbs and Cox's smaller hybrid designs which is real interesting

Yeah, Vasa.  I know she didn't "flip".  Thus the endnote.

The French hotel-classes were hilarious.  But at least they floated.

Yes. As I recall Courageous, Glorious, and Furious had trouble sailing without damaging themselves either, because the hull was so flimsy. I can't find much about them firing, but I would be shocked (pun intended) if they didn't damage themselves from the shock of their guns.

Yep. Specifically, they were nicknamed "Spurious," "Curious," and "Outrageous."
