I think we should rename this operation to better reflect what goes on.

My suggestion is to rename it Weimar Scraps, you know just to give player an expectation on what they will end up doing in the operation and to not waste any Exp plus ups.

Give a thumbs up if you concur

If this is how you feel, my suggestion is that you form 7-ship operations divisions with your friends so that you can specifically exclude Weimar.

Or just rename it so everyone knows that one of the better Ops (because its tier 7) is just an exercise in futility. If I see a Weimar now and you're in a BB you are better off heading straight for the Mizz and ramming it. You will end  up with the same amount of damage and you will get out of a wasted game quicker

Or you can wait a week when the operations changes take effect then people can spam the super Weimar (Mainz) instead.

First off, I am not advocating breaking any rules....

But, there is a new mode of play in Narai........it's called "follow the Weimar".   Many of us, when we have a Weimar attempting an exploit, simply "follow them" and make sure that they "just can't get there alone and kill everything."   Or, if you are in a Scharnhorst, take the short route into the bay and beat them to the middle.....   Had friends try that and it actually cuts the exploit in half.......  Ooops !  Exploits to counter the Exploits !!!  :cap_like:'

And, to your point, we have been taking 4 and 5 player teams to play scenario Modes alone.  Why bother with strangers, eh?   Join us some night, we have a blast playing alone.

I am one of those Scharnhorst players @Asym_KS.  I usually run straight through the middle, over the Missouri.  Only issue is that you will be subject to a lot of HE spam, torps, and of course, the Missouri guns.  You will take damage.  If you slow down to get healed from the convoy, you defeat the purpose of your own plan.  If you push straight ahead, you run the real risk of getting sunk before you get very far into the bay.  At best, you then get 3 choices.  The first is to go straight (left most).  Choosing this gets you behind the Werimar, so that's a non starter.  Going for the middle slot will get you some choices but you will be neck in neck with the Weimar and it's a real fight that you will usually lose because of the torps Weimar has.  The far right slot is a no go because it's too far.

The best to hope for is that the Weimar will get hung up somewhere or have trouble with the CV and escorts.  this is a rare occurence with good Weimar players.

At this point I am about to give up playing Narai.  It's just not worth the flags and time anymore to get middling results.

I usually play about 6-8 Narai ops a week, but so far this week I have played a total of 5 games over the last 2 days.

Wait a week, then ops will be randomized. Then come here and complain that Mainz, Atago, Bayard, Tirpitz, and Brandenburg are stealing my toys on every op and it’s not fair to anyone who doesn’t have any of these ships. I see theses types of posts aleady being formulated.

One of these nights, feel free to see if we are playing Narai.   You are more than welcome to division with us.......   As an aside, many of us see "exploiting" as "griefing...."  Because, it absolutely ruins the game experience and significantly lowers earning to the point many will not come back....   Se you out there I hope !

I play the Weimar and Munchen mainly in Narai. I always ask where everyone is planning on going or where they want me to go. More times than not no one speaks up so I usually go after the CV.

Game of the week soon will be no more.  The Op you drop into will be randomized.  (Or something like that.)  That should lessen the frequency of Weimar (and Mainz).  Hoping.

While i agree with the OP i really don't care, i do Ops for one reason... it's an easy win for my daily missions, if a Weimar player wants to go full Bats**t on the AI he's more than welcome, i'll sit back and put my feet up, let him do all the heavy lifting.

After the experience on PTS operation. I am most certain that T8 will be most preverant for the randomised ops next patch. People will kinda looking for "Jack of all trade" ship so whatever operation is being picked by MM they will be competitive and efficient.

People can still bring in Weimars, Atlanta, Scharnhorst, Prinz Heinrich etc, but they have to compete with ships like Mainz, 155mm Mogami, Cleveland, Tirpitz, CV etc. I would doubt if Weimar will remain competitive when their team have those T8 ship. I would consider T6 and T7 ships are kind of eclisped by T8 under the new Operation, I would consider playing T6/T7 ship in a operation that composed of majority players playing T8 ship as shooting myself in the foot.

Can a Rooke do something similar? You take off like a bat out of Hell once the battle starts, outstripping cruisers by a fair margin on the acceleration. Last night, I had a game where I took a quick detour south at the start to blast Iron Duke, then, I headed north to deal with the Missouri, then I followed a Scharnhorst close behind into the bay. If a Rooke taking this detour can keep up with a Scharnhorst taking a probably less than optimal route, could a Rooke replicate the mad dash? Could a pair of Rooke class rush the middle and do okay?

Weimar is not the end of fun in this Op but it does, if played correctly, require you to change your strategy.  Weimar is well suited to the Op but a lot of people screw it up and get blapped somewhere along the way.  It's also not the only ship that can really mop up on this operation either (Atlanta and Scharnhorst come to mind)

I think this is all down to how aggressive you are from the start.  I managed to get to the back right on the stern of the Weimar in one game last night with my Collingwood.  He took the carrier side entrance and I went straight in through the main entry and continued over to the bot's spawn side.   Got approximately 250.000 damage as well in that game IIRC.  I think my damage record is 350,000 in a Prince Heinrich.

Don't sit back and wait for the Bots.  Get out front and take the fight to them as aggressively as you can and try new things and approaches to the harbor to see what works and what doesn't.  Adapt because it is possble to do well in this operation in almost any ship as long as you play it correctly.

Do you remember when the first Op was released, Newport, and that it used to be a Tier V-VI Operation?  Top kekes.  Tier V became a liability and we got WG to remove that tier from Newport.

This is not an issue with me.  It is more the way a Weimar player will go after the CV.  I have seen Weimar players zoom past all kinds of bots, including some of the bots out front and past the CV escorts just to get to the backline where they can farm the 10 ships that spawn there.  No cares at all about helping the team or getting stars.  Just pad your own stats.  Those are the ones that bother me.

And before anyone jumps in with 'any ships can do this not just Weimar'.  Nope, not true.  It's the amount of torps and fast reload that Weimar gets, their speed boost, and decent guns with improved penetration that make this pretty much a unique ship for this operation.

Definitely looking forward to this.  I am hoping, with correct bonuses, that there will be some very good rewards.  I definitely need to start looking at my T8s to see which ones I want to play.

Unfortunately, with Ops being random, you won't be able to pick a ship for a specific op.  I usually play solo (Wolf here), so divisions are out for me.

I’m unclear how long ops will be random. Certainly through 0.11.8. However, the devblog for 0.11.9 references what ops will be up each week for Op of the Week. Leaves me wondering if the random draw is just a single patch test.
