On Tier...Hornet Kicks [edited]and tops out.

But only because it gets to DS detonate a Bismarck and finds a lonely BB in an attrition match as the game winds down.

The two of you love Baern so much, I wonder if @ArIskandir has Hornet yet.

If I saw you’d somehow sync dropped together in either, I’d run screaming for the metaphorical hills.

I started to have some good games in her as well. Thr AP bombers perform better then I expected. Admittedly I expected very little. Contrary to what I thought initially, they actually CAN citadel high tier British BBs although they don't really do particularly high damage and the citadels aren't particularly frequent. I'll have to watch the bomb drop patterns more to see if I can tell why.

Well, with Bearn I feel like I can make a big difference, even when bottom tier.  There are lots of T8 DDs that Bearn eats for lunch.  So it's a legit threat no matter the tier.

With Hornet, it's an uphill struggle in general.  Just less of a struggle when top tier.  And Hornet really doesn't have a good DD killer.  The torps have short arming distance, and drop four, so I have been able to catch a DD here and there, but it's a crap shoot.  B-25s can hurt, but more for attrition or finishing strike. 

I'm not really knocking the Hornet too much. It's better for WG to introduce it below par and adjust upwards than to hit above par and have to adjust downward.  Name and notoriety alone will sell.

I'm a bit tempted but Hornet is still farm focused. Gimme something with useful interceptors at T8 and I'm game

According to a clanmate it helps if you slow down before you drop to get better bomb fall angles.

Ive cit'd an Ohio with Hornets DB, probably helped that I had hit it earlier with B25's and took out some AA....still crap damage, something like 3400 per citadel.

Ive found the B25's can really hammer IJN DD's thanks in part to the fact that IJN DD's arent very maneuverable and they are pretty big for a DD. Atlanta's will shoot down 2 or 3 B25's but take a ton of damage from the bombs and are worth the losses just to take nearly half its health in one pass.

Hornet is no Big E or Kaga for certain and I highly doubt most will be able to put up 200k games but you can make it work with some practice. 

I do wish the fighters were better....of course I wish that for all my CVs.....I want my Essex back!!!! Honestly, why are they bothering with the escort carriers when they already have Hiryu, Essex, Akagi, Shinano and Taiho models. Throw in the Saratoga, Yorktown and Wasp and we have fighter cover CV lines :)

That makes sense. I'll try it. I suspect part if the problem is the planes don't dive, so the bombs have forward momentum and strike the decks at at more of an angle than those from DBs. Slowing down may get the angle closer to vertical. 

Her planes were actual dive bombers. I have no idea why they don't have a dive animation. Oh well. It is what it is. Lol
