Ashitaka - False information?

I have an Ashitaka.

The equipment lists the ship as having an ASW airstrike with an 8km range.

The in-play controls DO NOT have the ASW airstrike!

Why?

The AA is bad enough, but to get shortchanged on ASW is an insult.

Really!  I will take a look at this.  It sounds like you may have found a bug.

I'll look into it this weekend

It's not that it isn't working per se... it's that there isn't even an option (4 key) to use it at all.

Don't have the ship personally to compare if it is just not working for the OP...but I can definitely see in his screenshot what the problem is...

But obviously the replay gives support more to go on so good call to ask for that.

& Apparently there is a contention that all ASW is disabled in ranked & OP replied he was in ranked at the time so there is that to consider...

But I never noticed it not working in ranked (in fact in the past I have seen it used in ranked to try to spot AA...but it's been awhile since I've seen that) & I haven't paid attention lately to whether it was still there or not because there's never any use for it.

Mea culpa! I just jumped into Co-op and it turned up there.

I had not noticed it doing that in Ranked during the last update.

So, somebody was actually given the job of coding this deactivation in for ranked, and spent labor hours on it?

Why was this necessary ? Whose cornflakes get peed in, if ASW airstrikes remain active?

If WG feels going this route was so necessary, why not deactivate AA in non-CV games? Or take it further - give back hydro (or whatever) when your DFAA-loaded ship drops into a no-CV battle?

It is understandable that airstrikes would be disabled in ranked. It is often used to spot a ship with secbats turned on as you can't turn AA and secbats off separately. 

So, it is a useful tool for knowing where a flank is. I used it extensively the moment airstrike was available to spot hidden ships. I knew it was an exploit of sorts and was wondering when WG was going to do something about it. 

But unless it provides a clever decisive advantage, we won't see much change. 

However, it is an easy fix in tournaments with no subs. Just global disable it in a specific mode or competition. 

A clever fix would be to allow the player to disable AA separately from secbats though. 

But I am a clever guy, so sue me.

After all, I started this (Yeah, it was me. Guilty as charged. I am Spartacus! I am the baby's daddy!) and most players with a brain watching me do it, obviously saw the merit of my genius and superior intellect in all things botes. Of course, I got critics. But they are just jealous. 

I did keep that over the island trick with planes under wraps for a few months before a very clever streamer started to do it because they do clever stuff too.

Call it parallel innovation of CV aviation. LOL 

So, in conclusion. Great catch OP. 'Tis not Fair when you cannot do Foul, when other players can run Afoul in what is supposed to be a fair fight.

there are no subs in ranked.

 

Why would you need Depth Charge planes???

They aren't even in Brawl either.
